I didn’t wear crop tops when they were cool in the 90s and I don’t care for them now. I prefer my tops one way: long. The longer the top, the better. I just think they are more flattering that way–they elongate the torso and through some voodoo magic actually make my hips looks smaller.
When it comes to tucking my shirt, the same rule applies: keep it long. There are lots of times I want to tuck my shirt (like, if I’m wearing an Oxford shirt or if I want to show off a belt or if I want to appear more “polished”), but tucking makes shirts shorter–ugh. So I start tucking them in like this–with just the very tip of the shirt tucked:
