I think it would be 100% accurate to say I’m addicted to lip balm, more specifically, Burt’s Bees. I make sure to keep a lip balm with me at all times and in multiple locations throughout my house. One spot I always have lip balm is in my nightstand drawer because it’s the last thing I do before I go to sleep and the first thing I do when I wake up. I know, it’s a little excessive, but I must say my lips are always soft and very rarely chapped.

Besides applying lip balm throughout the day, you should most definitely put it on before going to sleep, especially in the winter. Your skin goes into “spa” mode during the night and rises in temperature to flush out toxins, produce new skin cells and more. Also, we naturally lose moisture in our skin throughout the night so that’s why it’s so important to moisturize before going to sleep. Just as you would moisturize your face you have to moisturize your lips with lip balm, or else you’ll be waking up with dry, flaky lips. Environmental factors like air conditioning and radiant heating will dry out your lips, too.

Case in point: protect your lips moisture barrier by applying lip balm before you go to sleep.
