Spring Shoes
The Trends:
Ladies,
If you dream of having a Manolo collection like Carrie Bradshaw, and you well up at the movie In Her Shoes when Toni Collette explains to Cameron Diaz why she buys fabulous designer heels even though she never wears them - "When I feel bad I like to treat myself. Clothes never look any good
food just makes me fatter
shoes always fit." -- then you are truly a shoe lover.
This spring happens to be a shoe lover's dream come true where the latest footwear designs are not meant to simply complement an outfit or get you from place to place, but instead they are their own important fashion statements.
With odd sculptural shapes and clever cutouts, blindingly bright hues, and loud artsy prints (not to mention a touch of
surrealism), just keep in mind when you're shopping for your warm weather wardrobes this season, it's all about the shoes.
Love,

At Least For Your Heels
Marc by Marc Jacobs Patent Two-Strap Mule @ eLUXURY
The kitten heel has put on a little weight this spring. The miniature stiletto that we're used to seeing is now a stocky block of stacked wood that props up our favorite sandal styles.
We like that they're a little more sturdy and comfortable for everyday walking around, but have just enough height to keep our calves looking amazing in our favorite sun dresses.
The man behind the trend, Mr. Jacobs, paraded two-toned stacked heels like these Marc by Marc orangey-red patent mules up and down his spring runway.
A different silhouette for Tory Burch, the Rebecca tan leather sandals have a gold stripe around the heel to match her ever present logo, an adjustable ankle strap, and an extra cushioned leather footbed for added comfort. They'll go with everything!
Franco Sarto is always on trend and his prices are always on point. These peep-toe slingbacks in a refreshing palm color are a steal at only $67.
A
closed-toe option from Bettye Muller would be great to wear to work, and the pair comes in a few subtle pearlized tones that are office appropriate.

And We Kind Of Like It
Olivia Morris Exclusive floral print pumps @ Net-A-Porter
This season is all about wild prints, the crazier the better. If you're a little hesitant to wear them on your clothes, try them out on a smaller space first, like your shoes:
The multi-colored floral print satin pumps from Olivia Morris look like a beautiful watercolor painting. Sure that birthday present-like bow is a little bit of a statement, but it fits in with the fun and cheery atmosphere of springtime.
J.Crew's ochre floral cotton pumps come with a more subdued bow and are available in a few other great prints, like cherry blossom and charcoal polka dot.
Guess also has a nice selection of
pretty prints in a cotton/poly blend that are a little more on the affordable side, as does J. Reneé whose
floral pumps are embellished with gems and beads.

Stuart Weitzman gold leather elasticized 'Gladiator' sandals @ Bluefly
Talk about reinventing an old look, this medieval times trend gives us some styles we haven't seen in a while… a long while.
If you're a little depressed about having to store away your favorite pair of riding boots that kept you stylish all winter long, (I know I am), the tall gladiator styles are a cooler way to rock boots in the warm weather. This tall, strappy pair from Stuart Weitzman is very much elasticized so that you can wriggle each shoe on and off.
Almost gilded looking, these rose gold Giuseppe Zanotti gladiators are breathtaking. Each metallic leather strap has it's own little buckle, although some are merely decorative. Very glam for a casual shoe.
The textured leather on these thong sandals by Cynthia Vincent is amazing. Give those ballets a rest for a while and let your feet breathe. Go ahead and show off that pedicure.
If you don't make a Roman emperor's salary, this
snake-embossed pair by Sam Edelman is more economical, but still fit for fashion royalty.
.: A Peeping Tom Bootie :.
Chloé Peep-Toe Sling Booties @ Saks
Booties were so popular in the fall, it is nice to see we'll still be able to pull them off this spring. Just a few little adjustments are needed to make them more weather appropriate, of course.
Chloé has some of the most, dare I say, fabulous shoes this season. The peep-toe sling booties are so sleek and modern looking. The heel has been cut out, so they are more like a sandal, with a chic buckle closure and tapered heel. While the go-go boot white looks amazing in all of their advertisements, we feel the grey is a little quieter, and maybe a little more of a user-friendly color.
A summer boot should be made in a summer fabric, right? A brand called Tashkent by Cheyenne has created these earthy-yet-elegant linen tie booties with side cutouts and an open toe.
Whenever we're looking for the hottest footwear fashion minus the scorching prices we can always count on trusty old Steve Madden. These cutout booties come in a great pewter color and will look good with anything in your wardrobe.
A great lace up version, these black patent
Heathers are such an edgy and fashion forward surprise coming from Nine West. We love the slingback take on an oxford-like shoe.

Chloe Asymmetric peep toe pumps @ Net-A-Porter
First leggings, now neons… it seems like we are suddenly living in a 1980s workout video. Still, who could resist a pair of electric blue pumps to go with their gray skinny jeans? So, skip over the traditional Easter egg pastels and just go for bold.
Of all the Jolly Rancher-esque shades, yellow is kind of having a moment here. But, if you're not feeling sunny enough to wear it from head to toe, just stick with toe. These Juicy lemon ballets are a cheery choice, with allover heart cutouts to help your feet stay cool.
Tory Burch is all about this trend, even having her logos dyed to match her colorful Reva flats.
Finish off the rainbow with a pair of patent
Kelly green wedges from Sigerson Morrison. Happy Spring.
