Beauty Find: Rare2B Vegan Skin Care

Jan 31, 2008

image

What: Rare2B Vegan Skin Care Set , $158

Why: I love animals. Not enough to give up my Big Macs and leather Jimmy Choos, but I try to do my part. So when a product comes along that doesn't test on animals and contains no animal by-products, I am more than willing to give it a try. Rare2B is a vegan skin care line that offers face creams, detox masks, and body lotions that are completely and totally Pam Anderson, Natalie Portman style vegan. And they leave your skin smooth and radiant. I am always a bit hesitant to stray from my regular beauty regime, but these organic plant-based products made my skin actually glow. I'm so psyched, I might just go join PETA. But maybe I should change shoes first.

Trend Alert: Sheer Tights Return For Spring

The new year is all about assuming a fresh perspective on life--and on fashion, too. So for 2008 take your cue from England and Japan, where women are throwing out their opaque tights in favor of a sexy, sheer look.

Since December's British Vogue recommended transparent tights in their piece about dressing for the in-between season (not sure we're quite there yet, temperature-wise, but...), and trend-watchers started reporting lots of these leggings on the stylish streets of Tokyo, the style is hitting state-side. We've spotted celebs like Claudia Schiffer and Blake Lively abandoning last year's opaque leggings in favor of this more elegant look.

And check out these images from the Chanel Spring 2008 Couture show at Paris Fashion Week. All of Lagerfeld's looks included sheer tights - either in grey, black, or white.

For those of us of in northern climates, this may not be the most sensible trend quite yet (we do love that cozy thick tights let us wear short skirts in the dead of winter). But as temperatures warm, SheFinds predicts that we'll be seeing a lot more leg.

Taste Test: Which Pewter Slingback Will Set You Back?

Pewter seems to be a hot color this winter and we're kind of loving it because it goes with everything. It's a subtler metallic than gold and silver -which can often look tacky - and it is a little edgy too.  Which pewter, bow-adorned slingback will you be adding to your wardrobe - the steal or the splurge? See if you can tell which is which:

Mark Presents Fashionista Friendly Superbowl Games

imageimage

If you're like me, the only thing that comes to mind when someone mentions this week's Superbowl game is Tom Brady's extremely talented good looks. As for the football factor...well… as much as men in tight pants are welcome on my television set, I find it fairly boring. Normally, if I'm at a Superbowl party, I dull the boredom with mass quantities of beer and fried food. Then I spend the next week wondering why my skinny jeans don't fit.

So we at SheFinds are happy to announce that Mark, a cosmetics division of Avon that you might have seen Lauren Conrad shilling, is putting on their own online Superbowl extravaganza especially for SuperBowl Sunday's bored fashionistas. FFL, Mark's  online  Fantasy Fashion League, is a  game especially designed for girls who know more about bronzers than first downs.  All a girl has to do is to sign onto the site, draft a team of celebrities and beauty trends from the list provided, and then sit back and watch her points accumulate as those "drafted" celebs walk the red carpet during the pre-game show hosted by Ryan Seacrest. The beauty trends sported by those football happy celebs (and by the celebs appearing in the Superbowl's commercials)  earn points.

Get the best team locked in by 12AM Saturday and you'll be able to win fabulous prizes from Mark.  Instead of just having a hangover and a belly full of Fritos.

Bargain Breast Enhancement? Liposuction Linked To Increased Cup Size

Some plastic surgery patients have all the luck. Sort of like going on vacation and returning with a perfect tan and clear skin, a good number of women who’ve had abdominal liposuction have noticed a welcome side effect: increased cup size.

A study published last year in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and recently brought to light by W Magazine found that 40 percent of patients experienced significant increases in breast size following abdominal liposuction, and a 2003 study found similar results.

It’s not quite a two-for-one, so we're staying safely in the realm of temporary enhancement - isn't shopping for lingerie more fun than shopping for surgeons anyway? If you're like us and don’t want to bank on a side effect (or, you know, lipo), try one of these Calvin Klein Bras. Or at least wear them to decide if you'd rather be bigger before taking the permanent plunge.

The Push-Up Bra ($38) is comfortable and unwavering – we swear, you won’t have to adjust every 15 minutes. The results look simultaneously natural and gravity-defying. If you’re not in the market for a cleavage boost or want a bit more coverage, the Perfectly Fit with Lace ($39) provides adequate padding but disappears under T-shirts and sweaters.
