Oprah’s Favorite Things For Summer Could Single-Handedly Boost The Economy

Category: Fashion Trend Alert

image

Christmas came a little early today for the lucky members of Oprah's studio audience. This afternoon's show featured Oprah's Top Picks For Summer, and in true diva fashion, the audience members got to take home everything the Queen of Daytime recommended. Below are some of our favorites from Oprah's favorites. And not to toot our own horns, but quite a few of these picks have been praised by SheFinds before!

image image

Heidi Klum made an appearance to recommend her favorite summer swimwear. Both her and Oprah were big fans of the retro-glam look, as in this Grecian style one-piece. Heidi also gushed about the Trina Turk caftan as a perfect warm weather cover-up.

imageimage

Among Oprah and Gayle's top makeup picks were Covergirl's Lashblast Mascara (for its no clump, smudge-free formula) and YSL's entire collection (for its gorgeous packaging).

We know how much Oprah loves her shapewear, so the Yummie Tummie tank ($72) was a shoo-in. This wonder tank is cute enough to wear as a cami, but does double duty slimming your midsection the moment you put it on. It comes in hip or long-length. Check out our SheFinds review!

image

Turns out Heidi and Oprah love Fitflops just as much as we do. Heck, if they can make our legs look like Heidi's, we'll never take them off.

Check out oprah.com for all of Oprah's Favorite Things for Summer, and peruse our SheFinds Swimsuit Guide for more summer suit picks.

Week In Review: Shoe Bargains Prove Hard To Find, Bikinis Lose Ground, And More…

Category: Fashion Look of the Week

image

Required Reading

  •  Notoriously cheap shoe retailers like Payless and Nine West will be upping their prices as much as 15% within the next year. However, as always, SheFinds believes there is always a deal out there to be had. We just have to seek it out.

  • At last, the day has come when shopping for swimwear doesn't mean browsing through endless racks of barely-there bikinis and miniscule pieces of fabric held together by dental floss. Women are saying goodbye to glitzy, flashy, teeny bathing suits and embracing more demure one-pieces, boy shorts, and flattering halter tops.
  • Memorial Day weekend is a mere week and a half away. And you know what that means - you have to start thinking now about what you're going to wear to all of those barbecues. Why not knock 'em dead in a casually chic spring ensemble that says I'm here to party, and I look fabulous doing it?

Steals and Deals:

Just for Fun:

  • Now that you know what to wear with white pants, put your knowledge to good use with a flattering pair of shorts that hits right near the knee. They’ll work with heels and flats and earthy embellished sandals – all you really have to worry about is avoiding a spill. One of the pairs below costs more than twice the other…can you guess which is which?
  • A light straw hat offers perfect cover against the unforgiving summer rays, and can jazz up even the simplest of ensembles. One of these straw fedoras is a pricey Eugenia Kim original, while the other costs a mere $20. Can you guess which is which?

Which Trendy Flip-Flops Will You Be Wearing To The Beach?

Category: Fashion Shoes

Finally, it's safe to retire your boots. The pain-in-the-ass weather has finally calmed down and given us steady doses of sun and semi-warmth. Which also means that flip-flop season is right around the corner. But SheFinds wonders - why settle for the same rubber thongs you resort to every summer? We rounded up the latest flip-flops on the market that are sure to make a splash in the trend pool within the coming months. Which ones can you see yourself in?

image

They're baaaaack. Remember your jellies from middle school? Well, newer, hipper styles have been spotted pounding the pavement and are causing quite a buzz.

Earth Sandals' Negative Heel Technology may make you feel like you're tipping backward in a drunken daze, but that's the whole point (minus the drunken part).

Fitflops is a new line of footwear that claims to give your calves, glutes, thighs, and hamstrings a significant workout all thanks to the elevated midsole.

Who'd have thought a thong would be made out of anything other than trusty rubber plastic? Gurkee's thongs are made of actual carpet fiber and are quickly becoming all the rage in flip-flop happy L.A. and Miami.

GuyFinds: Bluefly Appeases Your Male Label Snob

Category: Fashion Guy Friday Men's Fashion

image

What: Bluefly Launches The Tailor

Why: I’m a total label snob—from shoes and suits to eyewear and underwear. Even my black Lab, Larkin, has a Louis Vuitton dog collar. So when I heard that Bluefly launched The Tailor, an online boutique within their site for men interested in only designer labels, I was hooked. The selection is well curated and only includes dress attire from head to toe, and, like Bluefly, availability of sizes and colors can be limited. There are many terrific deals up to 40 percent off retail prices on current styles. To get you started, here’s a great deal on a versatile, casual blazer by John Varvatos .

Deal Of The Day: Up To 50% Off Black And White Skirts At Nordstrom

Category: Fashion Skirts Sales and Deals

What's black and white and read all over? Just about every fashion mag out there. You'd be hard pressed to find a glossy fashion rag that doesn't feature at least one black-and-white trend. Why? Because the color combo is classic, easy to accessorize and fun to find new ways of interpreting. These three skirts stick to basic black and white, but each has its own special something.

image
The Lafayette 148 New York Dot skirt ($207, was $348) is a little like what we'd imagine Minnie Mouse would wear to all those fabulous cocktail parties you just know she's throwing after hours. Standard white polka dots are given the pop art treatment on this slim linen party skirt.

image
Eyelet's back in this summer, but Robert Rodriguez's Organic eyelet skirt ($179, was $363) puts a bit of a dark twist on the classically fresh-and-girly fabric. A hip and graphic oval-and-circle pattern is laid over a sleek black silk skirt, a stunning contrast with amazing texture and a funky feel.

image
Think tweed is just for professors and librarians? Not so, says Marc Jacobs, whose kicky tweed A-line skirt ($589, was $995) isn't exactly black-and-white, but catches enough dynamic light in the glittery seaming to count just the same. You won't find this fringy number on anyone hanging around the musty old stacks, unless maybe they're doing some in-depth research on the history of retro-glam fashion.

And for more black and white options, check our our Fashion Top 5.

Deals on the web:
New-arrival Shoshanna, Nicole Miller and Marc by Marc Jacobs summer dresses are 40% off at Bluefly.

Whitening strips, Venus razors and L'Oreal cosmetics are up to 40% off at Drugstore.com's Stimulus Check sale.
