Suffocation Alert: Hold Your Breath And Try To Squeeze Into This Season’s Skin Tight Trend

Dec 03, 2007

imageLadies, we need to talk, and you might not like what we are about to say. First of all, you are going to have to go into your closets and find your little black dress. Found it? Good, now hide it. Lay it under your bed, fold it up, and put it in the linen closet; it doesn’t matter where, just get it our of your sight, because for at least this season, the little black dress is out of style.

(Oh and um, while you’re at it, you might want to take all of your babydoll dresses, your flowy trapezes, your boxy shifts, and store them away with your summer wardrobe because they’re all done for a while, too.)

We know what you’re thinking: “But it’s the holidays, the biggest party season of the year! Why are you telling us to put away all of our dresses?” Well, we hate to break this to you but according to The New York Times, party dresses are going to look a lot different this year than they have in while. No more tent-like silhouettes, no more easy-fitting shifts--right now it is all about short, structured, and very form-fitted. Embrace the bright and the bold and the intricately beaded. Invest in a glitzy brocade. With this trend there is an added luxurious quality, a tailored and sophisticated glam factor.

We’re not exactly sure how we are all supposed to squeeze into these sexy strapless sheaths, but we do have a feeling that Spanx will play a big part in it.

Good luck ladies. Here are some selections for you brave souls out there:

I love the new colorful slinky dresses and I am ready for them with my Higher Power Spanx. Yes, they make me feel a little bit like Scarlett O'Hara, but I haven't fainted once yet. For a chance to wear dresses this beautiful and this sexy, I am perfectly happy to wiggle into a girdle. Breathing is overrated!
