We know how it goes. As soon as the sun peeks out from behind the clouds and the mercury climbs above 55 degrees, it's officially shorts season. It can be such a drag when your morning forecast checkup reveals rain or, even worse, a spring cold front. Beat your temperature-dip blues by buying a cute spring jacket to stave off the occasional arctic-feeling breeze. With these adorable picks from Macy's house line, INC International Concepts, you may actually look forward to digging into your coat closet for a mid-season coverup.
Ditch the drab beige trench in favor of something a little more upbeat (hey, you have to make the best of a rainy day, right?) Opt instead for something poppy and pink, like this cotton candy trench with lantern sleeves ($96.75, was $129). Frilly pockets and belled cuffs—not to mention the rosy hue—will make you feel demure, even when you're getting drenched.
Harness two trends in one with this dip-dyed belted jacket ($96.75, was $129). Earthy hues are hot for spring (when better to don a little green than in a season of growth and renewal?). And ombré, a subtle gradation of color, is a hip upgrade from hippy dippy tie-dye.
A season's worth of superhero movies should teach you that there's often more than meets the eye. To wit: this mighty white belted jacket ($89.25, was $119) is so much more than a clean, classic blazer. It's got timeless lines, sure, but the funky, unexpected texture is where this versatile wonder really gets its strength.

Ladies, aren't you just dying for a new episode of Gossip Girl? We don't have too wait long — new episodes start next Monday (eee!) To celebrate, we've got a few style previews. Remember, when we left our favorite over-privileged Upper East Siders, the gang had just celebrated Christmas; well, that pesky writers' strike left us in a chilly weather time warp. That means we're gonna be seeing more fabulous coats and winter wear (read: great for our viewing pleasure, not so great for our style-stealing pleasure.) Still, if GG has taught us anything, it's that when there's a will, there's a way, so we've translated some of our favorite styles into springtime-friendly looks we can copy right now.
There's a new Queen Bee in town. Our little Jenny Humphrey unseated resident BGOC Blair for the title in a stunning coup last season. Judging from preview shots, she's taking the title to heart, sporting kicky red patent heels (with socks!) and a winter white coat. Get the look for spring with a three-quarter sleeve pearl-colored jacket from Kensie ($96). You'll need to save every penny you can get your French manicured mitts on if you want Jenny's grape-colored bag—that Valentino model rings up at $2,295 (did that Queen Bee promotion come with a major pay raise or what?). For a slightly more conservativie option, this Gerard Darel tote ($895) happens to be a celeb favorite. Poor B and S. Used to being Constance Billard's main event, these two are at least sticking together as style sisters. Cop a coat like Blair's blue one from Michael Kors ($96). Everyone needs a little trench for spring, and a cobalt version is such a bold and happy alternative to blah beige. Serena's luxe leather bomber is a must-have anytime, so maybe you won't feel so guilty dropping $775 on a timeless Elizabeth & James number. Scrunchable sleeves and a cute crop make it ideal for the season's chillier days. Finally, it's time for some new blood! Michelle Trachtenberg will be reporting for diva duty in mid-May. We wonder if she'll be sporting the chic gunmetal swing coat she's got on here. Nab a Tara Jarmon tie-neck jacket ($248) before Michelle's debut, and you'll impress your fashionista friends with your foresight.

Put your wool coat in the back of your closet and free yourself from hats, gloves, and scarves – spring is here! And with spring comes the need for a stylish trench coat. We've already showed you some Chic Rain Trenches for Nasty Weather, but this season is all about bright colors and jungle prints too. And the silhouettes have really taken a turn for fashion and away from function. As trenches were originally made to keep you dry in the rain – now they're here to make us look fabulous no matter rain or shine. The Via Spiga Zebra Print Trench Coat ($168) is water resistant – perfect for a rainy day. It's also machine washable for that grime and dirt we ladies pick up in our busy lives. Since the print of this coat is partially white, the washing-machine friendly fabric really makes buying this trench an easy decision – and its easy on the pocket-book. (Although its pattern is not for the faint of heart.) For those of us who need a slightly more subtle option but still want to have some fun, try out one of these candy colored trenches instead: Gallery Hooded Pleated Coat ($128) is a little less trench, and a little more adorable pleated dress you can wear as a trench. This citrus colored dream coat is water-resistant, fully-lined, and reasonably-priced. TwillTwentyTwo Grace Double Breasted Twill Jacket ($242) has an adorable take on a peter-pan collar with a bit of shirring and notches like the classic trench. Other intricate details that add to the flair include starch-white oversized buttons, white top-stitching, double breasted front closure, shirring on the pockets, and balloon sleeves and hem. Coffee Shop Single Breasted Bubble Hem Trench Coat ($78) has an iridescent shine that makes it oh-so-playful for spring. Subtle details make this coat a must-buy - and it’s the most affordable of the lot.

After a long winter of shrugging into heavy jackets, we usually can’t wait to shed that outer layer. But a little extra coverage can be necessary on those days when it’s perpetually drizzling – no use putting together all those cute outfits if you’ll end up looking like a wet dog by the time you reach your destination. Lightweight, bright-hued trenches are a great solution to coat fatigue: the five below are cinched with belts so you won’t be hidden under bulky cuts, and lighter fabrics and colors still feel like springtime, just a little less…wet.
The Gap’s Long Belted Trench Coat (was $88, now $64.99) has a classic cut and comes in regular, tall, and petite sizes to ensure a flattering fit.
The water-repellant fabric of this Tevrow & Chase Trench Coat ($645) has a beautiful bit of sheen, making the vibrant royal blue hue that much more appealing.
Wear this short, single-breasted trench (was $129.50, now $99.99) as a layering piece to work with your whole outfit, or over a going-out top when you need a bit more coverage than just a cardigan.
The belt on London Fog’s Pleated Trench (was $190, now $133) can be buckled to complement the coat’s crisp pleats, or tied for a more relaxed look.
This trench-inspired coat ($448) has a detachable hood and the cheeriest Easter-egg yellow color.

This transitional period we're in is the best time to stock up on weather-centric essentials, and you can never have too many chic chilly-weather options, right? Stock your closet with gritty-meets-glam outerwear from Mike & Chris. It's ladylike and urban all at the same time, perfect for sophisticated city folk.
If Project Runway's Christian taught us anything with his winning collection, it's that little black jackets never go out of style. This feminine Danny leather jacket ($236, was $656) with bubble hem and three-quarter sleeves is no exception. Layer over long and lean tees and play with the volume-on-top trend with this cute cropped option.
If your style is slightly boho, pick this lovely Jude lambskin trench ($740, was $1,232). The chocolate leather is slightly vintage-inspired, and the funky fold-over collar and cuffs are straight from the '70s, but the whole package is utterly contemporary and fashion-forward.
If you've ever braved a cold-weather city, you know about the monopoly black wool has on the coat market. Shake things up a bit with this high-necked Lawson wool jacket ($209, was $348). Puffed sleeves give off a European vibe, and you can ixnay the scarf with the help of the slouchy collar. Pair with skinny jeans or a dress for a totally metropolitan feel. While the winter-weary among us may be tempted to stow our winter wardrobes the second temperatures (finally!) hit 55, it's smart to have a stylish trench on hand to stave off the occasional spring chill. Trade in heavy winter wools for feather-light fabrics, and swap drab black and gray for sweet, springy colors.
This modern Alfani Trench ($47.70, was $159) is a far cry from the itchy, bulky winter wear that bogged you down last season. The feminine bell sleeves make this a pretty, ladylike take on a traditionally masculine classic.
O Oscar's metallic trench ($149.25, was $199) combines a chic structured shape with elegant metallic slate blue for an architectural effect reminiscent of the city's glittering skyline.
Braving April showers becomes a walk in the park with London Fog's crisp white trench ($133, was $190). So-shiny silver detailing and roll-tab sleeves that allow your wrists to breathe make this pleated coat the ideal winter-to-spring transition piece.

What: Stella McCartney Trench, $1695 Why: I am on the hunt for the perfect spring trench, and of course with my luck, my prayers would be answered in the form of this impeccably chic (and ridiculously expensive) Stella McCartney version. Oh how the fashion gods love to taunt. But then again, what better motivator to keep on truckin' through the workweek. I can't think of a better way to spend my hard earned dollars than on this lightweight, double-breasted, gorgeously constructed, modern take on a wardrobe classic - other than maybe rent, or groceries, or the electric bill. But they certainly won't make a girl feel like a million dollars like this fashion treasure undoubtedly will.
