Nautical clothing is such a timeless trend that no matter if it's in this season and out the next, it's sure to be back again soon. This season it's in. Lindsay takes it to the extreme with double nautical styles. And check out Selma looking like a pirate in her nautical top and head scarf. Style-star Posh has to be seen in every fashion trend every season - so of course here she is in sailor chic.
When I buy nautical inspired clothing, I tend to have less buyer's remorse than on other fads because I know I will eventually get my money's worth. But if you're still not sure how the look will fit in with your personal style, check out three great striped tops that won't make waves in your bank account. You can afford to wear these once and never again if you so choose.
This American Living tee ($20) throws out a bit of flair with a red trim at the neckline and shoulders and an embroidered log at the hip. Follow La-Lohan's style and scoop up this striped tank at Old Navy for just $8.50. Another chic option is this slub cami from the Gap ($16.50). If you're looking to really splurge on this trend, then the Vince Rugby top ($78) is for you. There's also this great Katie Sweater Jacket ($90) that's framed by a romantic little ruffle at the cuffs and hem. Or if you want to shell out for a luxe cami, we suggest the Graham & Spencer wide-striped top ($110).

At happy hour on Friday night I had an embarrassing moment when an adorable blonde actress friend of mine (yes, one who wears everything better than me) turned and flashed her big silver earrings from H&M in my direction, catching the reflection of my very same a-little-too-in-style-hoops. It's just for moments like that one that I'm always on the lookout for unique jewelry and other funky pieces that will separate me from the pack. Lately I'm obsessed with the goodies at Elsewares.com, which is an online shop that carries products by independent artists, designers, and entrepreneurs, which I'd love to support even if their wares weren't so darn cute! Some of my faves:
Melissa Borrell's Pop-Out Pendant Necklace ($36) come in red or silver and is attached to a square of metal that you literally pop the pendant out of, making it a fun and funky piece!
The ultra suede/'leather' Nebula Clutch ($50) is just the right mix of bohemian patchwork and city sass for me. Ooooh. Edgy. I also love the naughty/nice vibe of Analogous Jewelry's Razorblade Necklace ($110).
See? No need to go elsewheres. They have it at Elsewares.

I am always running out of gym clothes. I keep trying to buy all of this fancy stuff from Nike, but now I'm realizing how stupid that is because I can't really afford it, and I have to keep doing the laundry because I don't have enough pieces. So now I'm shopping around for some cute but economical tops instead. Here are a few that I've found so far:
I know I feel more comfortable working out in looser tops, (it's more freeing), which is why I love this sporty looking Chloe Tank (was $74, now $52).
If you're not a big fan of your legs and you prefer leggings to shorts, you can cover your behind—which you might not love either—with an extra-long tunic tee like this Wrangler Classic (was $54, now $33).
Show off those sexy shoulders from all of that weight lifting with an Organic Cotton Racerback (was $48, now $24). MORE DEALS: Shop other sale items up to 75% off at C&C California. Everyone needs a decent amount of basics in their closet - you know, tights, tees, camis, leggings, etc. Yesterday I went out to pick up a bunch of these items, each in a few different colors, and by the time I got done at the cash register, I had dropped almost $200—hard to believe. If only more stores gave a discount for buying more than one of a basic item:
A flattering jersey knit cami ($18, 2 for $30) is great for layering under work clothes in winter, and over bathing suits in summer.
A simple V-neck tee ($16, 2 for $25) can be worn with a pair of jeans, your favorite terry track pants, or under a cute jumper dress.
With so many must-have dresses on the market, you'll need to stock up on your tights. Urban Outfitters' collection of opaque tights ($12, 2 for $20) features all of the brightest colors—but if you're too overwhelmed, basic black and brown are available too. Sunday was a big day for New Yorkers of all persuasions. The Giants' huge Superbowl victory set sports fans (and the city) on fire, while fashion's finest flocked to Bryant Park to look beautiful beside the runway. Luckily, thanks to a speedy taxi driver and a quick switch from hot wings to high heels, I got to watch both Big Apple events. But before we get to fashion, let's take a minute for the men in our lives: Valentine's Day is quickly approaching, but finding a gift for your hubby hasn't gotten any easier since last year. This time around, skip the tube socks. If your man's a Giants fan, surprise him with this Superbowl XLII Champions baseball cap ($29.99). Guys love romance and all, but they also love football. And if the scene on the streets last Sunday is any indication, NY Giants hats are the new black (for the sporty types).
Complement that purchase with something for yourself (after a four hour game, you deserve it!), like this cute little number by Alyssa Milano ($39.99). I like baseball-style tees for a casual but sexy weekend look, and this one will tell your man you love him so much, you even love his team.

One of these tees is truly double the cost of the other, not only in price, but in material. Would you believe the cheaper tee is the sustainable one?

There's nothing I hate more than exposed bellies. If you're not on a beach or an ANTM photo shoot, your tummy should stay covered. And in the middle of winter, this becomes especially important--no one likes a blash of cold air freezing her belly button into the Ice Age. So what's the solution to cropped jackets or sweaters that stop short of where they should be? Invest in some affordable tank tops that stay put and will help keep you covered all winter long. Here are a few of my favorites: 1) Long, lean, and so affordable, the Old Navy Long Rib-Knit Tanks ($8.50) also come in a great array of colors.

2) Shopbop fanatics will love their exclusive line, Bop Basics. The tanks ($34) work great as a layering piece or as a cute top once the sun comes out.
3) Banana Republic's cotton stretch camisoles ($18) are designed way, way long and hold up well to washing for a fit that will last beyond the first week.

4) GapBody's new support cami ($19.50) comes with a built-in shelf bra, so if you only need a little support and want a smoother look (no double layer of straps when you go braless), this tank's for you. 5) James Perse's racerback long tank ($41) may not come cheap, but devotees of this brand snatch them up for good reason--they're soft, flattering, and they'll be a closet favorite for quite a while to come.

What: I Heart Tripods Why: I don't trust people who dislike dogs. They're furry bundles of loyalty, sweetness, and devotion. And, as a person who can't watch Animal Police on Animal Planet without sobbing and donating funds she doesn't have to rescue organizations, I fell in love with Tripod Charity Gear. The cause: every year about 6,000 dogs lose a leg due to bone cancer, leaving their owners to often face around $10,000 in medical bills. I Heart Tripods was started by a woman who couldn't say no to the surgery and care her pooch needed. However, she needed a creative way to overcome the overwhelming debt it left her with. So, she and a friend created I Heart Tripods shirts and bags. After she paid off her own bills, she continued selling the adorable t-shirts and totes as a way to help other people undergoing the same crisis of funds. So, you can get a funny, cute t-shirt and help fellow animal lovers save the furrier members of their family in the process! Save the Tripods! P.S. There's also cat gear. Because, you know, cats get sick too. And, despite the fact that they don't fetch, wag their tails, or seem to care at all about their owner's existence, some people like them.
