Being the self-confessed shopaholic that I am, I'm constantly stopping for a fix on my way to anywhere. But sometimes, in my efforts to try-on-and-dash as quickly as possible, I leave evidence of my addiction on my clothes… in the form of chalky-white deodorant marks.
This past weekend was the worst of it: In the fitting room, I rushed to pull clothes on and off—ultimately deciding I didn't like anything. After I redressed myself, I noticed that my freshly applied deodorant was now smeared down the side of my little black dress. In a panic, I actually spit on the fabric several times and tried to rub it off with my fingers, but the white smears only faded slightly and now I was stuck with a damp dress.
Hating myself, I ran out of the store and recruited a friend to help me fix it. "Just rub the fabric together", she insisted. I grabbed two pieces of my dress and brushed them against each other. Ha! What do you know, it worked.
If you're not quite convinced, or want to have a back-up method just in case, here are other sure-fire ways to keep those stubborn white streaks at bay. (And FYI - Rubbing your tights or pantyhose on the marks will also make them disappear.)
Gal Pal Deodorant Remover ($9) is a pack of two little pink sponges that are easy to stash in your purse or even your pocket for any white stripe emergency.
Warmer weather's on its way, which means sleeves will be shed and your underarm area will once again be exposed for all the world to see. A great clear deodorant like Lady Mitchum Clear Gel ($3.79) can both keep your skin from looking pasty and eliminate the possibility of chalky deodorant ending up on your clothes.
