There’s no denying that we usually turn to skincare products and treatments when it comes to reducing signs of aging. While these are all great investments when used and done properly, it’s good to know that there are also natural remedies that can help take years off your face. Aside from staying hydrated, one method is by incorporating nutritious foods—especially fruits and vegetables—into your diet.
So, what fruits exactly can help slow signs of aging? We asked board-certified dermatologist, Dr. Marisa Garshick, celebrity cosmetic dermatologist Dr. Paul Jarrod Frank, and nutrition expert Mazia Ahmed to find out. Keep reading to know more.
Indian Gooseberry (Amla)
According to Ahmed, "Among all fruits, it has the highest amount of vitamin C that aids in the production of collagen. Amla fruit is also rich in antioxidants, vitamin E, iron and calcium which is why it is considered as the best fruit for anti-aging."
Citrus Fruits
As you may already know, citrus fruits are also packed with vitamin C. Some examples include oranges, kumquats, grapefruits, and more. “Vitamin C is known to help support and boost collagen production which helps to improve the overall appearance of fine lines and wrinkles,” explains Dr. Garshick.
Blueberries
Additionally, Dr. Frank shares that blueberries "are rich in Vitamins A and C and prevent collagen loss." They have plenty of antioxidants that can keep your skin hydrated and glowing. In an article published by Cleveland Clinic, reports show that blueberries can also help manage cholesterol and blood sugar levels.
