Prince William’s birthday was tainted by sadness this year, according to a report.
The heir to the throne celebrated his 38th birthday on June 21, but a royal author claims that it was a sad day for William as he was likely missing his mother Princess Diana. So sad!

Prince William’s birthday fell on Father’s Day this year, and royal expert Katie Nicholl told OK! magazine, “William misses his mother.” Heartbreaking!
Though it has been more than twenty years since the traffic passing of the cherished princess, Nicholl explains that, “It must be emotional for him that she’s not here to share this. She’s still a significant part of his life so inevitably, on his birthday, his thoughts will be with her.”

If you recall, Prince William and younger brother Harry lost their mother as young boys when she was involved in a high-speed car crash in Paris in 1997.
Both sons have been very open about their personal struggle to process her her death, and the mental health impact of the event on their lives.

"You feel pain like no other pain,"" William revealed in a recent BBC documentary. "And you know that in your life it’s going to be very difficult to come across something that’s going to be even worse pain than that. But it also brings you so close to all those other people out there who have been bereaved."
He continued on the impact: "So you instantly, when you talk to someone else, you can almost see it in their eyes sometimes and it’s a weird thing to say but when someone’s desperate to talk about bereavement, you can kind of pick up on it quite quick." Devastating!
The family-filled day was only a reminder for William of what he's missing (his mom), Nicholl asserted to the magazine. “William misses his mother. It must be emotional for him that she’s not here to share this. She’s still a significant part of his life so inevitably, on his birthday, his thoughts will be with her.”
