In just over a month, I will turn 30. The big 3-0. Considering I already have a child and am in a committed, long-term relationship, I am not dreading 30 in the way some women do. I already feel 50, so it’s actually quite refreshing to be celebrating the fact that I am in fact 20 years younger than I feel.
That being said, I haven begun to question my wardrobe as I approach 30. Let’s just say, I’m not afraid to take a fashion risk or try a trend and so my closet is filled with more leather shorts, crop tops and metallic than I’d probably like to admit. On the other extreme, I also own hideous–yes, I’m honest with myself–pieces that I justify wearing because I’m a working city mom and they’re comfortable and/or warm. But alas, isn’t 30 the year you’re supposed to get it together? Especially as, you know, a fashion editor?
So before my birthday arrives, I’ve decided to take a good look at my closet and start purging. Anything unbecoming of a 30-year-old must go. And I’m sharing my experience because, well, there are just some things women over 30 shouldn’t wear.
