Jessica Simpson is back! After a 15-year hiatus from the stage, the 43-year-old singer made her much-anticipated return to live music at the Recording Academy’s Austin Chapter Block Party during SXSW. And the internet is absolutely losing it over viral clips from the event.
The “Irresistible” singer ended her more than decade-long hiatus from performing—she’s been rather busy focusing on her family, namesake fashion empire and other business ventures—while promoting her new album at the Austin, TX tech and culture festival. And we are here for the nostalgia!
Jessica Simpson Performs Again After 15 Years
The singer and entrepreneur took to the stage in the Southern city to plug her new album “Nashville Canyon, Part 1.” Although she’s certainly stayed in the spotlight, most recently for her 100-lb weight loss and split from husband Eric Johnson, this public event was the first time she’s plugged new music in ages.
Rocking a tan fringe jacket over a leather romper with a Western-style belt, Jess was the embodiment of her signature country-meets-glam style.
On Wednesday, March 12th, she shared a backstage clip from the event on Instagram, expressing her excitement to her 6.3M followers.

“I feel so blessed to be performing again after all these years,” she gushed in the video. “This journey has been incredible, and I can’t wait to share more with you all.”
Fans Are Overjoyed By Jessica’s Return
After the performance, videos started flooding social media of Jessica crooning her fans with new tracks from the album, such as “Leave” and even a cover of Nancy Sinatra’s “These Boots Are Made For Walkin'” (only OG fans know that she released a cover of the track in 2005).
Fans flooded social media with positive reactions to Simpson’s return. “She was beautiful! I’m so happy she is back!” one Instagram user gushed. “This sounds so good!” another Twitter user added.

Another self-professed “Y2K stan” shared: “She performed songs from the upcoming EP “Nashville Canyon, Pt. I” and sounded amazing.”
“Can’t handle this I love you, Jessica Simpson.” We can’t either!
Many fans called the night “magical,” celebrating the nostalgic throwback to Simpson’s 2000s music era. “The 2000s are alive!” one person wrote, while another fan praised, “She hasn’t missed a beat—what a voice!”
