Beauty Roadtest: Try Tan in a Can, Airbrushing Without Salon Prices

March 18, 2010 by Justine Schwartz

With warm weather (hopefully) just around the corner, it’s time to shed the pale, pasty winter look for tanner skin. Since a trip to the Bahamas isn’t in my budget, I will be faking it ‘til I make it with sunless tanner. The Model Co. Tan Airbrush in a Can ($30) is one of the best I’ve tried, and I’m a seasoned pro with faux tans. It’s a spray not a lotion – so, applied correctly, it doesn’t need to be rubbed in. Also, the product actually smells really good, which is a rarity in the self-tanner market. I got a very dark, natural-looking color – not orange-y like other products I’ve tried. As always with sunless tanners, you must exfoliate the skin before, use sparingly on the creases like the neck and knees, and scrub (not wash) your hands after application. It sounds like a lot of work, but it’s definitely worth it – its much cheaper than getting sprayed in a salon, and everything looks better with a tan.
