Break out the bubbly—the holiday season is upon us!
All those holiday parties and festive dinners mean more opportunities to celebrate with drinks. However, drinking rich wines or heavy cocktails alongside big, filling turkey dishes is enough to make anyone feel sluggish and sleepy. Maybe that’s why I find I’m gravitating towards lighter drinks this year.
Enter Prosecco. While still in the wine family, Prosecco has a light, fruity, and refreshing taste (think along the lines of sweet rosé or sangria), and its delicate bubbles are a nice alternative to heavier champagne fizz. Not only does Prosecco feel celebratory, it’s also a lot more affordable than your average bottle of vino. And lastly, while wine aficionados are only too happy to tell you which white or red complements which fish, pasta, or meat dish, Prosecco literally goes with anything.
By now, you’re hopefully full steam ahead on the Prosecco train. And if you are, allow me to tell you about a Prosecco you need to include in your holiday celebrations: Total Wine’s La Vostra Prosecco Superiore DOCG Brut. Total Wine is the country’s largest independent retailer of fine wine, offering over 8,000 wines, 3,000 spirits, and 2,500 beers with the best prices—and La Vostra Prosecco Superiore DOCG Brut is one of its newest offerings. It’s been flying off the shelves ever since it arrived!

The “Superiore DOCG” label on this bottle of Prosecco tells you that it’s of the highest quality. It’s also region-specific, with this particular brand coming to you from the foothills of the Alps (Venetio, Italy to be exact). Featuring crisp, dry, sparkling notes of citrus and apple, and tempered with a floral sweetness, it’s the perfect holiday drink. I love it because the bubbles still feel fun and festive, but the alcohol content is lower than most wines and won’t leave you feeling too boozy. While Prosecco goes with any dish or occasion, this bottle is especially nice when enjoyed with shellfish, smoked fish, or salty snacks.
Now, if you’re thinking Prosecco’s not your thing because you don’t like carbonation, have you ever tried adding it to a cocktail? The obvious go-to is the aperol spritz, which is why I’m partial to the holiday twist on the classic: apple cider aperol spritz. Essentially, it calls for mixing apple cider with aperol, Prosecco, soda water, and ice. It’s totally delicious, and the warm, spiced flavor of the apple cider transforms the drink from a summer staple into a holiday hero. Yum!
You can also experiment with your own take on festive Prosecco. Try adding holiday-forward flavors like cranberry, pomegranate, and ginger beer, along with fun garnishes (i.e. cinnamon sticks, orange/apple slices, rosemary, or sugared rims). La Vostra Prosecco DOCG Superiore is so tasty that you can’t go wrong (plus, experimenting is half the fun)!
Be sure to head over to Total Wine, or order online to pick up a bottle or two of La Vostra Prosecco for yourself. Whether you’re celebrating Christmas, hosting a holiday party, heading out with friends, or snuggling in by the fire, this drink adds fun and fizz to all your festive moments. Cheers, y’all!
