Although we know Juicy Couture by name and cursive ‘J’, others may be confusing it with the other brand, Jesus Juice Coature. And Juicy Couture is suing…
And yes, this is why Juicy Couture is suing over stolen fonts, a.k.a. trademark infringement. Jesus Juice Coature specializes in selling outerwear (get it – coature?) to an upscale urban population, while Juicy Couture, which reigns in suburban malls, has claimed in official court documents that Jesus Juice Coature is “unfair competition.” Apparently, all of Jesus Juice Coature’s advertising – via MySpace, Facebook, their blog as well as a large NYC billboard – has really pissed off Juicy.
Personally, we couldn’t confuse the velour sweatsuits with some random peacoats, but we do think Jesus Juice Coature should have looked into some different fonts. What do you think? Read the official court documents and leave your opinions in the comments.
