Melissa McCarthy, the actress who stole the show in Bridesmaids earlier this year, is having a major moment. Not only is she now a bonafide star with an Emmy under her arm for her work on Mike and Molly, (despite years of playing Suki for years The Gilmore Girls), but she’s also has a plus-sized clothing line in the works.

McCarthy told The Hollywood Reporter

“Trying to find stuff that’s still fashion-forward in my size is damn near impossible. It’s either for like a 98-year-old woman or a 14-year-old hooker, and there is nothing in the middle.”

So instead of trying to squeeze into sample sizes, McCarthy, who briefly studied textiles and design in college, once worked as a costume designer for a dress company, and cites famed shoe designer Brian Atwood as a close high school friend, designed her own dress with dressmaker Daniella Pearl.

She told People that they also designed a backup gown that was “dove-gray and much more flowing.” It’s still sitting in her closet and she quipped, “I’ll wear it to Trader Joe’s later.”
