Before you rush off to the Apple store or order a new iPhone battery because yours won’t hold a charge longer than three hours, consider what your apps could be doing to your device. Sure, apps are the entire reason we spend many waking moments engaged with our phones, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t also the cause of some of our most frustrating phone problems. Tech Expert Sufyan Mughal from Gamingtechreview.com, says there are two apps that pop into his mind (and many experts) agree when asked which he would delete for the sake of a stronger battery. Here’s what he had to say.
FacebookFacebook is such a super popular social media app that it can be easy to forget that it can significantly impact your iPhone’s battery life.
“One of the main reasons is its constant background activity, which involves refreshing the news feed, checking for notifications, and running various processes,” Mughal says. “This continuous background activity consumes a substantial amount of battery power. Additionally, Facebook’s auto-playing videos and ads can further drain the battery.”
To mitigate this issue, Mughal says you can either delete the Facebook app entirely or take advantage of the battery-saving features within the app itself. “To do so, open the Facebook app, go to the settings menu, and enable ‘Background App Refresh’ and ‘Auto-Play on Wi-Fi only,’” he instructs. “Disabling these features will help reduce unnecessary background activity and prevent the app from consuming excessive battery power.”
