What’s The Difference Between Dental Implants And Veneers?
First thing’s first – there is a difference between dental implants and veneers, which we’re going to talk about in a little more detail below. Your cosmetic dentist will most likely be the one who decides whether dental implants or veneers will be best for you, as it depends on what your priority is, and what you are trying to fix. Dental implants, in a nutshell, are used to replace missing teeth, for example, while veneers are better for those who have all of their natural teeth, but want to improve their appearance by making them straighter, brighter, whiter, more even, etc.
What Is A Dental Implant?
A dental implant looks and feels like a natural tooth, so if done well, will be undetected when compared with the rest of your teeth. While dental implants are comfortable and durable, they may need to be tightened or even replaced over time, which is completely normal.
A dental implant can be used to replace a missing tooth, for example, which means that the rest of the teeth aren’t affected, so it’s a simple and low-cost solution. As well as fixing your smile and boosting your confidence, dental implants have non-aesthetic benefits too, as they can restore things like joint pain, bite problems, chewing, speech, and digestion.
What Are Veneers?
There are two main types of veneers: porcelain veneers and composite veneers. Porcelain veneers are thin shells or covers, if you will, that are custom made to fit directly over your teeth, following the removal of a thin layer of enamel from your natural teeth, usually done under a local anesthetic. They resemble natural teeth (although are noticeably brighter and whiter!) are more commonly for aesthetic purposes, and can totally transform your smile! They can be used to cover chips, stains and gaps on your teeth, resulting in a straight, even, and bright smile. Porcelain veneers are not indestructible though, as porcelain is a glass that can be shattered if too much pressure is applied, but if well looked after, can last anywhere from 10 to 30 years.
Composite veneers are a little different, as they are a minimally-invasive type of tooth covering made using composite resin, which sits on top of your natural teeth to reshape the teeth into a straighter and overall, more desirable appearance. Composite veneers are good for fixing smaller issues such as cracks or chips, as you do not need to cover the entire tooth with resin, while porcelain veneers are favored for a bigger transformation. Composite veneers, for what it’s worth, don’t tend to last as long as porcelain veneers, and have a typical life span of 5-7 years.

The Kylie Cosmetics founder's entire mouth area is lightyears away from what it used to be, as in addition to her controversial lip fillers, Kylie had bright white porcelain veneers fitted!
2. Cristiano Ronaldo
The Manchester United soccer star previously had a missing lateral incisor and a gummy smile, among other minor problems, which were reportedly first corrected with ceramic braces, before he had a tooth implant placed in the jawbone and veneers, leading to his now instantly recognizable smile.
3. Megan Fox
The Jennifer's Body star has had a *lot* of cosmetic work since she first burst onto the scene, and that includes her smile! Machine Gun Kelly's fiancé reportedly had porcelain veneers to give her that highly-sought-after perfectly symmetrical Hollywood smile.

The fashion designer formerly known as Posh Spice (who are we kidding, she will *always* be Posh Spice to us) had a very different smile before she shot to fame with the Spice Girls in the nineties, with uneven spacing and wide gapping. She reportedly had her teeth straightened and bonded, ready to catch the eye of a certain Mr David Beckham a few years down the line!
8. Zac Efron
The Baywatch actor had uneven teeth with a gap in the middle before he shot to fame as Troy Bolton in High School Musical, but is now the proud owner of a super-white and super-straight smile, most likely achieved by Zirconia veneers.

Perhaps one of the most famous dental before and afters belongs to the Mission: Impossible actor, who has reportedly had everything from whitening and realigning/straightening to a mouthful of veneers.

Although braces could have made a world of difference to the "Midnight Sky" singer's teeth, it would have taken a long time for her to see results, which is something Hollywood starlets don’t have! The Shawshank Redemption actor reportedly had diastema, i.e., natural gapping between the teeth, which was corrected with veneers that were used to close the gap. He has also had his teeth whitened, now resulting in an award-winning smile!

The Lizzie McGuire star got some natural porcelain veneers after chipping one of her front teeth on a microphone. But as far as before pictures go, the Younger actress's are some of the best, which many people (including us!) would be elated with!

The one-time eternal bachelor's good looks no doubt extend to his smile, which experts say could be down to porcelain veneers or dental crowns. His natural smile, however, is one of the best ones we have seen, so we don’t think he would have been any less successful with ladies or in the industry without the mouth makeover!

The Mean Girls star once had stained and uneven teeth, only to be transformed to bright, white, and straight teeth, most likely achieved by teeth whitening and either dental ceramic crowns or dental veneers. Whatever she had, it's totally transformed her smile!

The America's Got Talent judge was missing two teeth, once upon a time, but now he has a full and natural-looking smile thanks to dental implants. "Nothing is any different from natural teeth, except they are better than my natural teeth were," he previously said.
