Have you ever wondered whether you’d miss most of the apps on your phone if you simply deleted them? This question may pop into your head as you continue to battle with a device that’s constantly losing battery power, after only a few hours, and if you suspect having a billion apps downloaded on your phone may be contributing to this dilemma.

There are a number of reasons why your phone may not retain battery power as long as it should, including some of the settings you have enabled (like brightness and background app refresh), but you’re not wrong: some apps are simply worse than others when it comes to depleting your battery.

Here’s the solution: get rid of them — not all of them, of course, but any and all apps that you probably wouldn’t even miss. Wondering where to start? These three apps can be uninstalled because they’re draining your battery and you probably won’t miss them once they’re gone

Weather Apps

As you already know, the iPhone comes with a weather app already installed. It’s a basic weather app — it’s great for finding out the temperature, the forecast for an upcoming week, air quality, UV index, and a few other basics. Is it the most sophisticated weather app? No. Are there weather apps out there that have more robust features? Sure. But, remember: weather apps rely on knowing your location, and this capability takes up battery power. The fewer weather apps you have on your phone, the better for your battery.

Navigation Apps

Similar to weather apps, apps that provide directions are amazing and convenient. We wouldn’t dream of living without them — but having three or four GPS apps downloaded on your phone is a privilege, not a necessity. While it’s true that different maps apps provide different features, if you’re only using them to get from one place to another, try and keep the number of these apps on your phone to a minimum. This will help ensure your battery doesn’t deplete so fast.

Social Media Apps

At this point in time, it’s rare to find anyone who doesn’t use social media apps. Maybe you have a favorite — whether it’s Facebook, TikTok, Snapchat, or Instagram, the truth of the matter is that ALL social media apps are resource intensive. They are workhorses — delivering videos and new content at a rapid pace. This is a drain on your phone’s storage space and battery power. If you can break up with some of these apps, all the better for your device. Try starting with deleting the Facebook app — if you can’t stand your time away from it, you can always access it via your browser.

There are ways to conserve battery power on your phone so that you’re not constantly searching for a charger. Deleting certain apps is a great start.
