So your slowed-down iPhone has you frustrated beyond belief and you’ve tried everything. You are only charging it occasionally, keeping its battery within the 30 to 80 percent charging range, and you have put a halt on the number of times you stream media throughout the day. Still, your device is lagging and you can’t explain why. What’s the solution? Believe it or not, the answer could lie in the apps you use — and deleting a few of them can make all of the difference. Tech Expert Stephen Curry, CEO of tech company CocoSign, spoke with SHEFinds.com about the four apps that Apple experts say make your iPhone run slow slowly and that you should delete right now if phone speed is a concern.

Facebook

Sorry to break it to you, but here’s something you probably already know: Facebook is one of the top apps that slow down your iPhone, according to Curry. “It requires a vast amount of storage space on your phone and is subject to extended use, hence more storage data,” Curry says. “The fact that it also auto-plays videos is also problematic. Where possible, one should delete it and use Facebook via browser.”

Apple Maps

Apple Maps is perfectly practical when you’re out and about and need to find your way, but its constant updates by Apple Maps can also make your phone sluggish, Curry says: “It keeps quietly updating your location and keeping tabs even when you don't need it. While this is its primary purpose, it takes a toll on the speed of your iPhone.”

Dating Apps

They’re great for socializing, but terrible for your phone. “Dating apps such as Tinder and Bumble can slow down your phone immensely,” Curry says. “This is because they constantly update your location information to create local matches. Whenever a match is created, they send a message even when you are not active on the app.”

Apps That Aren’t Updated

“Apps that are not updated to comply with the latest iOS version will also slow down your iPhone,” Curry says. “Whenever changes are made to the iOS, Apple updates developers with these changes to update their apps. Some, however, do not comply, rendering these apps slow when iOS updates are made. Fortunately, iOS warns you such an app will slow your phone when you launch it.”

Before you spend a cent on a new iPhone battery (or a brand new device) try deleting these four apps and see if it doesn’t make a world of difference in your phone’s speed and performance.
