4 Useless Apps To Delete Because They Take Up Unnecessary Storage On Your iPhone

There are some apps on your phone that you wouldn’t dream of deleting. And then there are others that you keep on your phone because the sky is the limit in terms of how many apps you can download, and it’s too tempting not to maintain a variety of different apps that address everything under the sun. You could, literally, download five different weather apps if the mood strikes and hop from one to another to check whether each agrees that it’s going to rain next Saturday.

The problem with doing this is that nothing is actually free. Even the app itself is free, you’re going to pay for it with storage space

There’s no such thing as a universally “useless” app because what you find useless another person might find useful. The challenge instead is in figuring out which apps that are known for taking up storage space might prove the least useful for you. If you aren’t sure where to begin in this journey, consider these four apps that many feel are useless and that can take up unnecessary storage on your iPhone.

Weather Apps

Speaking of weather apps: your iPhone comes pre-loaded with a pretty good one. It’s basic, that’s for sure, but if you’re okay with a weather app that provides a forecast of temperatures, precipitation, wind conditions, air quality, UV index, and a few similar facts about the weather in your area, there’s really no need to look elsewhere. Save storage space by only relying on one weather apps.

Third-Party Accessories

“There are plenty of third-party accessories available for Apple products, but you shouldn't waste your money on them,” Padmanabhan said. “First of all, Apple products are designed to work best with first-party accessories. Additionally, third-party accessories are often lower quality and may not last as long as first-party accessories. Finally, third-party accessories may void your warranty if something goes wrong with them.”

Social Media Apps

Are social media apps useless? That depends on who you ask. But one thing we can all agree on is that they take up a lot of storage space, and if you can live your life with just one or two at most, you will help conserve space on your phone. Some of the social media apps that take up the most storage include Instagram (all those photos and videos are murder on space) and Facebook. If the social media app you have allows you to adjust its settings so that your phone doesn’t keep a copy of photos you take on it, make sure you enable it.

Streaming Apps

Streaming apps like Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime have a place in our worlds if we enjoy streaming content like TV shows and movies. But the more of them you have, the more you’re streaming, the more files your phone is saving — and the more storage space you’re taking up. If you can choose one or two streaming apps and delete the apps, great. At the very least, getting into the habit of deleting all of your downloads in every streaming app you have will help conserve storage space.
