It’s no secret that there are plenty of healthy foods that do wonders for weight loss. But did you know there are certain foods dubbed as “superfoods” that really help to boost your metabolism? Some of dietitians’ best kept secrets are the variety of superfoods you should be eating for weight loss.

Now, what exactly is a “superfood”, you ask? We’ll turn to the experts to explain this one. According to Healthline, the food industry gave out “superfood” labels to nutrient-rich foods with a supposed capacity to positively affect health.

Without further ado, let’s dive into our top 4 favorite weight loss superfoods that can show you a brand new way of boosting your metabolism.

One great flavorful metabolism-boosting ingredient to add to lunches and dinners is chili peppers. In an interview with Medical Daily, registered dietitian Rene Ficek explains how spicy food, like chili peppers, can improve health in various ways.

“One of the most well-known health benefits of spice is its ability to raise metabolism, and thus burn extra calories,” Ficek says. “Eating a spicy food can temporarily boost your metabolism by up to eight percent.” How amazing is that?!

Another one of our go-to ingredients for weight loss is none other than apple cider vinegar. Apart from taking apple cider vinegar supplements, one to two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar can also be easily mixed into water for some seriously amazing health benefits.

A Healthline article written by registered dietitian Franziska Spritzler explains how the acetic acid found in apple cider vinegar boosts metabolism. “Animal studies have found that acetic acid may promote fat loss in several ways. It can reduce fat storage, increase fat burning, reduce appetite and improve blood sugar and insulin response,” Spritzler says.

Let’s turn our attention to some more traditional ways you can boost your metabolism--- by eating vegetables, of course. Vegetables like butternut squash have amazing metabolism-boosting benefits. In an interview with The Active Times, registered dietitian Amy Gorin says that eating foods with a low glycemic index, such as butternut squash, can benefit metabolism because it decreases surges in blood sugar following meals.

Another popular vegetable for amazing weight loss results is celery. Celery is low in calories, high in fiber, and contains lots of water. In an interview with Women’s Health, registered dietitian Tracy Lockwood explains that since celery acts as a diuretic, the energy that’s used by the body to increase urine production helps to increase your metabolic rate.
