It’s difficult to nail down one comprehensive list of apps that are universal battery drainers for all smartphone users. If, for example, you are constantly checking the Facebook app, the likelihood that Facebook will kill your battery fast is higher than for someone who uses Google Maps more often than Facebook.

But, generally speaking, that doesn’t mean there aren’t certain apps that are notorious for draining your iPhone battery faster. And avoiding these apps may just be the key to regaining battery power. Antti Alatalo, the CEO & Founder of Smart Watches 4 U, spoke to SHEFinds.com about the five apps that completely drain your battery.

BT Wi-Fi

Wi-Fi itself is a battery drainer, Alatalo says. When you’re out an about and searching for a connection, you will inevitably drain your device’s battery. “BT Wi-Fi and other Wi-Fi hotspot apps just further accelerates battery death by constantly pinging for viable Wi-Fi connection,” Alatalo says.

Moves

Tracking your movements and life habits, including sleep, is popular these days. But some of the apps that are used for these purposes also happen to be battery killers.

“Moves is a motion tracking pedometer app,” Alatalo says. “Because it uses an M8 motion coprocessor to record your steps, it's a major battery drainer.”

Amazon

The Amazon app itself isn't a major battery eater, Alatalo says — the problem is that it encourages you to spend a great deal of time on it. And most apps that require your time are bound to drain your battery.

“Considering it's a shopping app, users are more likely to spend time on it for longer periods,” Alatalo says. “Furthermore, the Amazon shopping app constantly runs in the background to stay up to date with the latest personalized promotions.”

WhatsApp

“WhatsApp and similar messaging apps are battery guzzlers,” Alatalo says. “It consumes energy whenever you send and receive messages or watch a video. Turn off push-notifications to slow the drain.”

Pokemon Go

Games are a great diversion and they certainly help pass the time, but some — including Pokemon Go — have long been cited as battery drainers.

“Pokemon Go is super popular but is notorious for consuming power,” Alatalo says. “This is due to the game's heavy reliance on phone sensors and GPS tracking that makes the game what it is. A test from CNET revealed that just 30 minutes of playing Pokemon Go on a full charge drains the battery down to 15 percent.”

Limiting your time on these five apps is an excellent way of instantly restoring your phone’s battery power.
