You may not know it yet, but there are settings on your iPhone that can actually boost your device’s battery power — and it takes nothing more than a bit of knowledge about them and remembering to enable them to get the job done. If you feel like you’ve been stuck with a snail-like phone for far too long, the solution doesn’t have to be to chuck your device in the trash and shell out hundreds for a new one — you may not even need to replace its battery just yet. Tech Expert Jim Peterson, co-founder of My Speech Class, has provided tips on five battery-saving settings you should enable on your iPhone ASAP. Try these before you spend a dime.
1. Limit apps using location and BluetoothDon’t permit all of your apps to use location and Bluetooth automatically, Peterson cautions. “You need to set apps permission to ‘ask next time,’” Peterson says. “That way apps will need your permission every time they need to use location and Bluetooth. This option is so crucial because many times happens that we forget to turn off these settings, and it drains our battery fast.”
2. Low power modeEnabling Low Power Mode will automatically activate on 20% of your battery, but you can turn this on any time in your settings, and it will extend your battery life for a few hours at least, according to Peterson.
3. Limit background activity“Many apps are running in the background, and they are useless in those moments, but it kills the iPhone battery, so you need to prohibit those apps from being active in the background,” Peterson says. And the way to do that is by limiting background activity.
