Banana
Banana is a great fruit to start incorporating into your regular diet, especially if you are combatting bloat. Jenn Fillenworth, MS, RD and freelance culinary nutritionist explained to INSIDER, "Bananas are one of the best bloat fighters out there."
"Since they are packed with potassium and soluble fiber, they help the body flush out excess sodium and reduce inflammation," she explains. "Soluble fiber also helps to relieve constipation, which can be another cause of bloat."
Papaya
Papaya is another great fruit for your digestive health. According to Food Network Canada, "Papaya is a digestive champion. It contains an enzyme called papain, which works as a mild laxative, helping the body to eliminate excess waste. Papaya is a good source of fiber, which helps the body's elimination process, reducing bloating and digestive discomfort."
Pineapple
When speaking to Byrdie, Alissa Rumsey, MS, RD, CDN, CSCS, suggested pineapple for bloat. The article explains, "According to studies, bromelain, an enzyme found in pineapples aids in digestion by breaking down proteins while also reducing signs of swelling."
Cantaloupe
Cantaloupe is another great fruit for fighting bloat due to its high water content. "The water content in cantaloupe, as well as watermelon and honeydew, is equivalent to having water from a glass," Kristin Kirkpatrick, RD, wellness manager at the Cleveland Clinic Wellness Institute, told Women's Health.
"They’re also natural diuretics, so they help you urinate excess water and salt from your body,” Kirkpatrick continued.
Lemons
Lemon water is a popular drink for anyone facing digestive issues and hoping to leave bloat behind. Increasing your water intake and staying hydrated can actually help reduce water weight and bloat. Adding some slices to lemons to your glass of water can increase the benefits. According to Bustle, lemons act as a "natural diuretic" and "gentle laxative," which can help you de-bloat.
