Calvin Klein has been stealing the media spotlight for years. Funny enough, most of CK's headlines have nothing to do with the line's products — more like the lack thereof! Racy ads, like the one to your right, have been sparking outrage since Brooke Shield's infamous 1980 commercial (more on that later). Here are a few CK media (and personal!) details you might have missed in the past oh, 40 years...Lululemon is NOT a fan
For a company that specializes in yoga wear, Lululemon is not particularly chill. In 2012, the brand filed a lawsuit again Calvin Klein for selling yoga pants with a similar waist band to that of their “Astro Pant.” I mean, it’s a waistband, the style options aren’t exactly endless…

Brooke Shields Didn't Really "Get" This Ad
"You want to know what comes between me and my Calvins? Nothing." 15 year-old Brooke Shields set the fashion world aflame when she starred in this suggestive CK Jeans commercial in 1980. Many networks refused to air the spot, which of course catapulted the designer to the height of popularity. Calvin Klein knew what it was doing and the sort of effect its campaign would have on the media — teen model Brooke Shields was less aware... In her 2014 memoir, Shields pleads ignorance, writing, "In no way did I think I was saying anything controversial or sexual. It never occurred to me that the line could mean I wasn't wearing underwear."

Calvin Klein Is Open To Dating Younger Men...
In 2010, the designer made headlines when he started dating Nick Gruber, a man (boy?) nearly 50 years his junior! The pair split two years later, as Gruber is rumored to be "gay for pay"...

Calvin Klein Made Heroin Chic A National Issue
Kate Moss made serious waves when she started modeling for Calvin Klein in the early '90s. She was too naked, too young, etc... But the real kicker is how the model came to glamorize recreational drug use. Moss's look and CK's style of photography helped coined the term "Heroin Chic." The movement received such a violent backlash that even President Bill Clinton reached out to condemn the trend.
