Blunt Shoulder-Length Haircut
A shoulder-length haircut may be the perfect length for you because it is easier to maintain than long hair, but can still be pulled back in a bun or ponytail. But keeping the ends blunt and void of layering can make your hair sit flat on your head and not give your face and facial features a lift. If you have fine hair, blunt ends can work in your favor by making hair appear more dense, but adding a few shorter, face-framing layers is key to creating volume and movement.
Dense Layers
Dense layers can make thinning hair appear thinner. If there are too many layers cut into your hair and there is no blending of the layers, your hair can appear separated and straggly. Work with your stylist to create more contrast between longer and shorter layers so that there is balance and harmony in your look.
Triangle Haircut with V-Shaped Ends
A triangle haircut is one in which the layers on the side are very short and the back is much longer, resulting in what looks like a V-shape at the back. Although this look was once fashionable, it has since been thought to make fine and thinning hair look even thinner.
Bob With No Layers
Similarly to how a shoulder-length haircut with no layers can lay flat and not give your hair enough oomph, the same can apply if you have a bob that is all one layer with no shorter layers to provide contrast and body. This cut can look chic if your hair is voluminous and it is styled well, but many benefit from the addition of at least a few layers.
Hair Parted in the Middle
Could it be possible that something as seemingly small as the way your hair is parted can have a major effect on your overall look? Yes indeed. If your hair is parted down the middle, you may be drawing attention to a sparse scalp and thinning hair. This hair style may also cause your hair to flatten on the sides, more so than a side part or a deep-side part. Experiment with different parts in your hair to see if this doesn’t make all the difference.
