Finding foods to eat that support weight loss can be challenging, especially if you don’t know what to get or where to look. Luckily, there are people out there who do all the heavy lifting for you—and post it online! Amie, who goes by @TheWeightLossScoop on Instagram, is a registered dietician and nutritionist and she made a trip to Costco to show her followers exactly what foods to add to cart for weight loss. We wrote them all down here, check them out below!
1. Beef Tri Tip
First up on Amie's list is the Steakhouse Tri Tip steak, which is not only delicious and a good source of protein, it's also on sale—$5.50 off! "It's absolutely phenomenal," Amie describes. "It's lean and great for protein." Need some meal prep inspiration? Skewer bite-sized pieces along with your favorite vegetables and pop it on the grill for a barbecue-inspired dinner, or grill them on their own and use them to top a salad along with other fruits or vegetables. Both of these options make for great high-protein, low-carb meals. Grab yours at Costco today!
2. Frankly Fresh Chicken Burrito Bowls
Up next are the Frankly Fresh Chicken Burrito Bowls. These high-protein burrito bowls include "seasoned chicken breast with a blend of brown & white rice, black beans, corn, roasted salsa & topped with jack & cheddar cheeses." Amie explains that she picks them because they boast "30 grams of protein" and "the calories are great." One of these bowls comes in at only 390 calories, which is not bad for a whole meal! Stock up on these and you're set for on-the-go-lunches and easy dinners.
3. Laughing Cow Spreadable Cheese
Then Amie grabbed a pack of Laughing Cow Spreadable Cheese. "These are light," she describes. "They're 25 calories, great to spread onto a wrap." If you're a cheese lover who doesn't want to cut out your favorite foods just to lose weight, this is definitely the item for you. Laughing Cow Spreadable Cheese is great for a cheese and cracker snack, an extra layer of flavor and moistness in a sandwich or wrap, and can even serve as a dip for crunchy veggies like carrots or celery. The perfect mid-day snack!
4. Kevin's Thai-Style Coconut Chicken
Another item Amie gravitates towards is Kevin's Thai-Style Coconut Chicken. All natural and paleo-friendly, these curry-flavored chicken breast strips are great for an easy dinner. "I personally think it's good, but it's always on sale so I always pick up a pack of it," Amie says. "You can't beat it. It's quick—this is fast food guys. Change the way you think about fast food." With 6 servings in just one pack and a pack coming in at less than $10, this is an item that's at least worth a try.
5. Wholly Organic Smashed Avocado
Next is the Wholly Organic Smashed Avocado. Who doesn't love avocado? "These are perfect to add into breakfast, lunch, snack, dinner, etc.," Amie says. "And they're on sale for $10," she added. These Smashed Avocado packs are great if you're an avocado lover but can't seem to master the art of picking the perfectly ripe avocado, or if you face the issue of all your avocados ripening at the same time. With these packs, you can keep them in the fridge for a week and they're just as fresh on day one as they are on day five.
6. Real Good Food Lightly Breaded Chicken Strips
And finally, the Real Good Food Lightly Breaded Chicken Strips. Found in the frozen section, these bags of lightly breaded boneless chicken breast are great on their own or on top of a salad or mixed into a pasta dish. "They're the perfect heat and eat fast food meal," Amie says. "When you need something quick and in a pinch, this is easy to air fry." Plus, sometimes you can't escape that craving of a good chicken tender, so rather than pulling through the McDonald's drive thru, you can heat up a few chicken tenders right at home. Stop by Costco ASAP!
