It’s time to get your iPhone into the best shape of its life — that may mean employing a few smart tactics to boost its battery power, prevent lagging, and increase storage space. If your phone is working at a slower pace than usual or always seems to run out of storage space, the culprits may be settings that are enabled and habits you’re neglecting. But these six hacks will help get your phone up to speed and in good working order.

Clear Safari Cache

Your Safari browser can’t run well if it’s loaded down with cached data. Periodically clear up your cache to get it running well again by going to Settings > Safari, tap Clear History and Website Data.

Offload Apps You Don’t Use

Have several apps on your device that you never use? It’s time to offload them and stop allowing them to take up storage space and battery power. Go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage, and enable Offload Unused Apps. This will remove apps you rarely use, but keeps them in your data. If you ever want them back on your phone, you can easily reinstall them.

Manage Photos and Videos

Chances are, your photos and videos are a major source of your storage space issues. Keep them managed by going to Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud > Photos and enable iCloud Photos. Perform a routine clearing out of old photos and videos you don’t need by saving them to iCloud and then deleting them from your device.

Turn Off Bluetooth and Wi-Fi

When you’re out and about and not in need of Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, turn both off. This keeps your phone from working hard to find a reliable connection, which can drain your battery of power fast.

Turn Off Background App Refresh

Just say no the Background App Refresh, a setting that conveniently refreshes your apps so that they are always ready to deliver the latest content to you, but that also consumes a lot of battery power in the process. If you can handle waiting for a few extra seconds for apps to load for the sake of battery, go to Settings > General > Background App Refresh and disable the setting or select specific apps that you want the setting to refresh.

Adjust Screen Brightness

One of the easiest ways you can make a major impact on your phone’s battery is by adjusting screen brightness. A screen that is very bright consumes battery, plain and simple. Go to Settings > Display & Brightness and either manually lower brightness or enable Auto-Brightness.
