Having naturally straight hair comes with numerous advantages such as many styling options, and the ability to flaunt sharp and glossy hairdos. However, for some gals with naturally straight hair, there may be certain obstacles such as the appearance of fine, flat, or lifeless locks.

To counter these challenges and impart more body and bounce to straight hair, we sought the advice of renowned celebrity and professional hairstylists who provided us with seven voluminous and trendy haircuts favored by celebrities to try this spring.

Read on for tips, suggestions and insight when it comes to creating volume, texture and movement for straight hair from Gina Rivera, celebrity hairstylist and founder of Phenix Salon Suites and Ghanima Abdullah, hair expert and cosmetologist at The Right Hairstyles.

7 Chic, Volume-Boosting Spring Haircuts For Women With Naturally Straight Hair

 1. Asymmetrical Lob

An asymmetrical lob or bob is a "terrific choice" for anyone who wants to create volume, Rivera explains, adding that Rosamund Pike's 'do above is a perfect blend of classic yet still modern and trendy. She adds that this chic cut has the ability to "keep the fullness at the ends which is great for fine, thin hair."

When dealing with thin hair with age, she says, you want to "avoid hairstyles that have a lot of layers, as this can make the hair collapse and appear thinner." Lobs like these are also great, she says, because you can "add volume by styling them appropriately."

Blunt hairstyles can make hair appear fuller. "A good rule of thumb is keeping the length from shoulders and above, she advises. She suggests a deep-parted asymmetrical lob to try since its "changing lengths in the hair make it a very trendy and current style," while also being timeless.

2. Layered Pixie with a Deep Side Part

Side parts evoke not only Old Hollywood, timeless glam— they also provide instant volume to short hair. As Abdullah points out, "in this manner, you can move the hair from one side to the other, as you wish."

The added hair going over, she says, as seen here on Kate Mara's more modern, fresh take, will increase volume in the area as well, especially if your hair is used to being parted down the center.

"If you really prefer a center part, make a short one instead so that the hair in front goes to either side of your face," she suggests. "Then the hair in the center can be brushed back. Any difference that you create when your hair is used to lying flat and completely to the sides will create volume and make a big difference," she says.

3. Subtle Shag With Curtain Bangs

A shag is an "amazing cut that is well-recognized for being versatile," Rivera says. A quintessential shag, as seen on Taylor Swift, offers "nice variations for both longer and shorter hair." Like the bob, "adding a bang can add a fresh surprise to this look," Rivera suggests.

Abdullah adds that bangs like these are "often used to frame the face and specifically, to give it a youthful appearance." She notes that they also "make your hair appear thicker and are a great way to add volume to thinning hair."

The style also "works well for women who want to hide thinning hair in the front." In addition, anyone with naturally straight hair will appreciate the movement these layers can bring, especially if you ever curl your hair or braid it to create waves.

4. Sleek Bob with Eyebrow-Grazing Bangs

If you're not a fan of too many layers but still want to make thin or fine hair look fuller, a classic chin-length bob like Zendaya's adds thickness with the help of blunt ends and full bangs.

Full bangs are "another terrific option that can be a great addition to this style, no matter what length it’s worn at," Rivera adds.

Bangs like these, she says, are "great for giving any look a nice pop," she continues, adding that they can add an immediate difference to otherwise lifeless locks.

5. Pixie With Sideswept Bangs

One specific short 'do that can highlight your eyes, cheekbones, and face shape is a pixie cut with side-swept bangs. "Ever seen a pixie cut where the bangs steal all the attention? This is what you're after: long, side-swept bangs," Abdullah explains.

Robin Wright's look above is a great example. "The rest of your hair should be piece-y and angled. She adds that "the cut should swirl around your head to hide hair loss" and any thinning or fine areas.

Abdullah stresses that a pixie cut with subtle hidden layers still maintains volume that is both gorgeous and easy to manage.

6. Elegant Lob with Sideswept Bangs

Bangs like these "offer a lot of movement which always creates the illusion of fullness," Rivera says, which is important if you're struggling with fine, thin locks.

Adding sideswept bangs to an already blunt lob can "also detract from the appearance of fine or limp hair and can add dimension to a style," according to Rivera.

Whether you like to curl your straight tresses like Emma Stone did above or leave them as is, an elegant lob with sideswept fringe can also add instant volume and movement to your mane.

7. Long, Face-Framing Layers

"Longer side bangs" and "face framing pieces" a la Jennifer Aniston can also result in a more voluminous and radiant appearance by "drawing the eye to the appealing facial features," Rivera explains.

"In general, this provides for a fresher and more youthful look," she says. If you want to keep your hair longer but you're worried about it looking too fine, thin or flat, Rivera says it is imperative to add delicate, subtle and strategic layers as well as face-framing pieces to avoid looking "weighed down" and dull.

She points out that "an added choice is to shorten the hair up a bit to the collarbone or above" to create some more texture by "adding subtle layers to soften."
