There has never been a better time to look around and find hair inspiration from older celebrities who are looking more and more fierce at the events and on the runway. Whether your preference is bobs, pixies, long hair, or something in between, there’s no shortage of options to try. Many women find that a medium haircut is perfect for them because it allows them to retain length without compromising on healthy hair. Even women who have thin or fine hair can see their strands become transformed with a great haircut.
Ready to try something new? Professional Hairstylist Justin Hickox points out nine medium haircuts that frame the face and are perfect for older women to try this spring.
Give these nine a consideration.
1. Blunt Lob
A blunt lob is a one-length blunt bob that is trending and gives you a bob shape while still allowing you to pull your hair back. Hickox warns that it may be harder to pull this one off if you have a longer face or your hair is thin, and it’s important to get regular trims because bobs lose their shape quickly when they get too long.

2. Wispy Layers
Face-framing wispy layers can make your hair look thicker, but Hickox says layering alone doesn’t create volume or density in your hair, and that how your hair is layered matters the most. Wispy layers are airier in nature and can help take weight out of hair and give it shape.

3. Blunt Layers
Blunt layers involve cutting layers with a slightly different technique that can make them look more bowl-like and choppy, as opposed to them blending into your hair. If you aren’t a fan of airier layering techniques, this one might appeal to you.

4. Long Layers
Long layers aren’t short, face-framing ones, but are long enough to blend seamlessly into your hair without standing out and shouting “layers!” In a way that seems obvious. They’re perfect for minimalists who just want to feel like their hair looks thicker and healthier.

5. Sleek and Straight
Sleek and straight can look sophisticated and cool, plus it brings on the shine, but it lacks the ability to accentuate face shape the way layers can — so keep that in mind.

6. Wavy Layers With Caramel Ribbons
Caramel base is gold (not super red) and Hickox says it can make dark hair look wonderful. Hickox encourages playing with darker lowlights to make the tones pop more. Combining this color with waves creates a voluminous, dimensional look.

7. Modern Shag
A modern shag is a medium-length cut with a ton of layering. Hickox says it can encourage your natural texture to come through, but works best for medium to thick hair types.

8. Asymmetrical Shoulder-Length Hair
“If you can wear it, rock it,” Hickox says. But remember: this is a statement look — be prepared to get attention from an intentional asymmetrical bob.

9. Bronde Balayage With Piecey Layers
Bronde crosses brown with blonde and using the balayage technique creates a natural look that appears as if the sun hit your hair in certain spots. Combining fun color with piecey layers brings out your highlights even more and gives your look an edge.
