Breakfast, they say, is the most important meal of the day. But if you have a sweet tooth, it can be difficult to resist sweet indulgences that leave you feeling unsatisfied and result in weight gain over time. However, there are, in fact, ways to satisfy those sweet cravings without putting your health at risk—and maybe even lose some weight along the way.

Nutritionist Ilana Muhlstein, a.k.a. @nutritionbabe on TikTok, frequently shares delicious, healthy recipes that can help you on your weight loss journey—because they helped her on her own! Muhlstein, who lost 100 pounds, has one fantastic breakfast recipe in particular for those with a sweet tooth. And believe it or not, it’s inspired by Snickers Ice Cream bars. The healthy twist? Protein-rich yogurt. Find all the info below.

Snickers Bar Yogurt Recipe

First thing’s first—we won’t leave you waiting for the recipe. Here’s how Muhlstein says it’s done:

Caramel fudge: 2 dates soaked in hot water (5-30 min) blended with 1 tbsp cocoa powder and 1/2 tsp water.

Peanut butter yogurt: 3/4 cup plain or vanilla Siggi’s yogurt with 2 tbsp peanut butter powder, 1/2 tsp vanilla extract and stevia or monk fruit to taste.

Topping: 1 tbsp chopped peanuts

Muhlstein says that this yogurt-based recipe not only satisfies her sweet cravings but also fuels her with the right nutrients, leaving her feeling fuller all day long—unlike one of the go-to breakfasts she used to eat when she was 100 pounds heavier.

"When I was 100 pounds heavier, I ate a Snickers ice cream bar every morning for breakfast," she shares. "I was addicted to the sugar, but by the time I got to school I was already hungry for another sweet snack, and it was all I could think about. I was annoyed with how I felt and how distracted I was by my constant hunger and sweet cravings."

She goes on to say that her nutritionist urged her to eat more protein and less sugar, "but oatmeal and eggs were not gonna cut it" as a Snickers replacement. That's when this recipe was born; she realized that what she really wanted was a creamy peanut butter component, and found a way to incorporate that into a healthy, protein-rich breakfast.

By combining peanut butter powder with cold Siggi’s yogurt, vanilla, and natural sweetener, she created a delicious concoction reminiscent of peanut butter frozen yogurt.

One might raise concerns about the dairy content in this breakfast, but Muhlstein addresses this by highlighting the unique qualities of Siggi’s yogurt, which is strained four times, significantly reducing lactose content. This makes it not only suitable for lactose-sensitive individuals but also adds a creamy texture to the recipe without unnecessary sugars.

By incorporating Siggi’s yogurt, which is high in protein and low in sugar, along with peanut butter powder, this breakfast becomes a powerhouse of protein. Protein is essential for muscle repair and growth, as well as for keeping you feeling full and satisfied throughout the morning. Additionally, the inclusion of peanut powder provides healthy fats, which are important for brain function and hormone regulation.

Muhlstein's recipe also features a homemade caramel fudge made from dates, cocoa powder, and water. Dates are naturally sweet and rich in fiber, vitamins, and minerals. They provide a natural alternative to refined sugar, which comes with many downsides. Instead, dates offer sustained energy without the crash associated with sugary breakfasts.

To top it all off, Muhlstein suggests adding chopped peanuts for extra crunch and flavor. Peanuts are packed with protein, fiber, and healthy fats, making them a nutritious addition to this breakfast bowl.

For those with allergies or dietary preferences, Muhlstein offers alternatives such as using almond powder instead of peanut powder or omitting nuts altogether.

All in all, Muhlstein's high-protein, Snickers ice cream bar-inspired breakfast recipe is not only a delicious way to start your day but also a nutritious one. By focusing on protein-rich ingredients and natural sweeteners, this breakfast bowl provides sustained energy, satisfies sweet cravings, and keeps you feeling fuller for longer. So why not give it a try and kickstart your mornings on a healthy and delicious note?
