Alex Rodriguez is looking at his romantic history (and specifically, his time with Jennifer Lopez) in a positive light. The legendary Yankee, 46, sat down for a new interview with Martha Stewart last week for her podcast, The Martha Stewart Show, and praised his ex-fiancée.
“Here’s what I will tell you about Jennifer, and I was telling some of my colleagues here the other day, she’s the most talented human being I’ve ever been around,” the athlete said. “Hardest worker. And I think she is the greatest performer, live performer in the world today that’s alive,” he gushed.

The iconic couple began dating in February 2017, and Rodriguez proposed to Lopez in March of 2019. A little over one year later, the duo called it quits in April of 2021. At that time, rumors began swirling that Rodriguez had cheated on Lopez with Southern Charm star Madison LeCroy, but the reality star revealed to Page Six that she and Rodriguez had DM’d and FaceTimed but never had a romantic relationship. Soon after, Lopez and Rodriguez released a joint statement in which they explained that their engagement had ended simply because they “realized” they were “better as friends and look forward to remaining so.”
A-Rod opened up more to Stewart about their relationship, adding, “Look, we had a great time.” He continued, “More importantly, we always put the kids front and center in everything we do.” Rodriguez shares two daughters with ex-wife Cynthia Scurtis; Natasha, 17, and Ella, 14, while the Marry Me star is mother to 14-year-old twins Emme and Maximilian, who she shares with ex-husband Marc Anthony.

In the interview, Rodriguez said that being able to raise his two daughters is the “the greatest gift” and that he and Lopez still “wish the best for each other and one another’s children.” Rodriguez is currently dating fitness competitor Kathryne Padgett, 25, and the two have been spotted together multiple times since January of this year, while Lopez has been engaged to Ben Affleck, 49, since April.
