In April, Alex Rodriguez and Jennifer Lopez called off their four year long romance and two year engagement after whispers of a split the month before. The pair’s relationship became tumultuous in March when rumors of infidelity swirled around the former Yankee, but it initially seemed like the couple would be able to ride out the storm before they called off their romance for good. However, Rodriguez reportedly expected the pair to rekindle their romance even after their split, and was surprised and upset to see that Lopez was recently seenhanging out with her ex, Ben Affleck.
According to a source for E!, “A-Rod is shocked that J.Lo has moved on. He truly thought they would be able to make it work and reconnect,” they said. “He has been reaching out to J.Lo trying to meet with her and she has been very short with him.” The realization that the former couple would not, in fact, be getting back together comes after Lopez embarked on a romantic vacation with her former fiance Ben Affleck. The couple, dubbed ‘Bennifer,’ travelled to Montana last week, sharing PDA and looking very loved up after nearly 17 years apart.
The source also revealed that Rodriguez reached out to Lopez to express that “he’s upset,” but J Lo is standing firm in the breakup as her trust with her former partner was broken after the cheating scandal that emerged. However, the 45-year-old baseball star is reportedly not yet ready to let the relationship go for good, and on the day of their breakup, a source for E! revealed, “He is respecting her wishes right now, but has high hopes they will get back together,” the source said. “He's doing anything in his power to make J.Lo happy.”
‘Bennifer’ now seems to be stronger than ever after their romantic couples getaway, with reports revealing that the pair reunited after Affleck sent Lopez a note as she neared the end of her relationship with A Rod, telling her how great she looked on set--aw! Lopez’s former publicist Rob Shuter told The Post, “A lot of us would love to have a second chance with the one who got away. I won’t be surprised if they get engaged again. As far as I know, she never gave back the ring.” We wonder what A Rod thinks about that!
