It’s been a whole year since the news of their scandalous affair rocked the country – and now Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes have finally shared new information about their romance during a recent episode of their newly-launched iHeartRadio podcast, Amy and T.J.

If you’ll recall, news of their rumored affair, which ultimately saw them fired from GMA3, first broke in November, 2022. It was initially thought that the pair were having an affair since they were both married, and had been with their respective partners since 2010. However, it was later reported that they were both on the verge of splitting with their significant others prior to their feelings for each other evolving. Amy had been married to Andrew Shue since 2010, while T.J. had been married to his wife Marilee Fiebig since 2010. According to T.J. on the podcast, he and Amy were both “very close” to undergoing divorce proceedings with their partners before their romance started.

Amy Robach And T.J. Holmes Explain How Their Relationship Developed

When asked by a listener how and when they went from colleagues to best friends to a romantic couple, T.J. said that things started "evolving" last summer, although both he and Amy were initially reluctant to address their feelings for each other.

"Look, when we knew, it was probably summer of last year that things were – something else was evolving," he told the listener, before reiterating: "We were very close to entering divorce proceedings. We didn't share that with each other because I am sitting over here going, 'Lord, this has been a great best-friend friendship, I don't need to screw this up by saying to her that there's something I'm feeling for her that's beyond the friendship.' So we kinda tiptoed around it."

He went on to note: "I didn't want to say anything. As we proceeded through last summer, things definitely changed, and we started to have conversations."

Amy Robach Recalled When They 'Started Looking At Each Other Differently' At Work

Amy also chimed in, telling listeners that it was difficult to pinpoint the exact moment her feelings for her colleague and friend changed, although she said she noticed that they both "started looking at each other differently" at work. She also said that she remembered the feeling of not wanting her work week to end, as it meant that she and T.J. couldn't see each other for a few days.

"I remember us saying, 'Oh Fridays are a bummer.' Normally people are excited about Fridays," she confessed, before T.J. added: "Because you get to go home for the weekend, but that means we couldn't see each other until Monday." Amy continued: "Right, and Mondays are like 'ugh' for most people, and we were excited about Mondays. I think for me that's when it started to feel different."

Who Made The First Move?

Amy and T.J. left nothing off the table, as they also shared some of their milestones with their listeners. T.J. confessed that he was the first one to say "I love you," although he said that Amy was actually the one to make the first move.

"It was you. I'd argue it was you," T.J. said, in reference to who made the first move. "Did I lean in first?" Amy asked, to which T.J. answered: "It's not about a leaning in, it's about a move – somebody who initiated something physical that was beyond what the friendship had been, I think that was you. I'm sure it was you." Amy also confessed that they declared their love for each other long before they had their first kiss, which is quite an interesting detail.

Marriage Is 'On The Table'

Despite both being married twice, both Amy and T.J. don't seem to be put off by tying the knot for the third time, as Amy said marriage is "under consideration."

"Here's what I would say. We did not enter this relationship for fun or for 'Let's see what happens.' We entered this relationship because we intended on spending our lives together," Amy said when the subject of marriage came up. "So whether or not we have some sort of legal, you know, I don't know, button on it, I don't know." She added: "We both have two marriages under our belts, and so it's not something we're racing to or rushing toward. But there is something... this thing that I can't even explain why there's this desire, but I want to spend the rest of my life with you, I can say that."

"But you don't want to marry me necessarily?" Holmes asked, to which Robach replied: "It's on the table." Holmes then chimed in: "I want to marry you... in part, because you're 50 and I'm 46." He then said, while laughing, "And I'm very sick of introducing you, a 50-year-old woman, as my girlfriend. That just sounds stupid." Amy replied: "Thank you for noting the age difference."
