Amy Schumer recently joked about ‘not having caught’ COVID-19 a few weeks ago, and just gave fans an update on her health (she’s since tested positive for the virus). The I Feel Pretty actress, 40, took to her Instagram to let her 11.7 million followers know that she had to cancel her Netflix is a Joke festival appearance (that was supposed to take place last week).
“I am sad to say I have to cancel my show in L.A. tonight. I am the first woman to ever get COVID,” Schumer joked in an upload for her fans. “I tested positive for COVID-19 about an hour ago, so yeah, please, I don’t know … but at least my hair looks good.” The comedian didn’t go heavy into detail regarding her symptoms, but she did note that her voice had changed (as a result of what seemed to be congestion or coughing).

Schumer deleted her first post announcing she was sick and then shared a new video showing her deeper voice which she compared to Elizabeth Holmes, disgraced founder of Theranos. “COVID has given me this incredible Elizabeth Holmes voice,” she said, while revealing that she had streamed The Dropout. “This is what I sound like now that I have COVID.” The Trainwreck star also said she was feeling “lonely and bored [because] I’m away from my family,” but added that the time apart could be “great, because they won’t get it I hope.” (Schumer shares one son Gene, 3, with her husband, chef Chris Fischer, 42).

Since uploading her video, Schumer has shared more updates with fans on her IG, including a photo of medications that she dubbed her “covid essentials,” which included common over-the-counter products like Tylenol, Mucinex, Theraflu, etc. Last week, she also referenced another hit show on social media, Selling Sunset, as she posed in front of a Oppenheim Real Estate building while donning what appeared to be workout attire.

“Cured,” she wrote in the post for the caption, leaving fans wondering if she is still being her comical, witty self or announcing that she has truly overcome COVID. Either way, feel better, Amy!
