de Armas Opens Up About Playing The ‘Dream Role’ Of Marilyn Monroe
Back in September when promoting Blonde (which premiered on Netflix on September 28, 2022), de Armas stopped by the New York City set of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert to discuss her “dream role” and how she related to Monroe. “I didn’t expect to have so much in common with [Monroe], and it was actually a lot more than I thought.” She said, adding, “Just this opportunity alone is almost close to a miracle.”

She then said to Colbert, “A role like this was not supposed to come my way. It was not supposed to happen. Not just because I’m Latina and Cuban…it just doesn’t exist in general. This is something very, very special, and the opportunity for me to play this part was a dream.” She is also up for the notable 2023 ‘Best Actress in a Leading Role’ Academy Award for her performance. The Oscars will air Sunday, March 12th on ABC.
