Fans On Social Media Think Ana De Armas Should Play Poison Ivy In Upcoming Projects
James Gunn and Safran, as fans know, are set to expand the DC Universe with a range of offerings spanning the next decade. Their ambitious plan (including developments of TV shows, online games, comics, etc.), is poised to captivate audiences across the board.
One character that could feature prominently is Poison Ivy, although it remains unclear whether rumors of de Armas even being considered to play the iconic villainess are true. On X (formerly Twitter), however, the Blonde star continues to be consistently fan cast in the role.
"Hear me out.. a BIRDS OF PREY sequel with Ana de Armas as Poison Ivy," one fan recently wrote as another had a similar idea and tweeted: "I need Ana de Armas in a DC film *badly*. Preferably Poison Ivy. Preferably in Matt Reeves’ #TheBatman Trilogy." Someone else chimed in: "petition for Ana de Armas to play Poison Ivy" as one other concurred: "Ana de Armas for Poison Ivy."
The beloved character is a botanist and biochemist with a misanthropic demeanor. Her physical abilities have been amplified and she possess a poisonous touch, in addition to supernatural powers that grant her control over the plant kingdom.
Poison Ivy has been portrayed by various actresses across multiple live-action media adaptations related to Batman. Uma Thurman played the character in the 1997 flick Batman & Robin, while Clare Foley, Maggie Geha, and Peyton List brought her to life in the series, Gotham. Bridget Regan took on the role in the third season of Batwoman within the Arrowverse.
De Armas, however, is currently known to be working on the upcoming 2024 action film Ballerina. Directed by Len Wiseman and written by Shay Hatten, the upcoming thriller is the first spin-off to emerge from the John Wick franchise.
The Blade Runner 2049 alum is currently only a fan cast for the role of Poison Ivy, however, devotees of DC Comics are actively advocating for her to be considered for the part in upcoming productions!
