Andie MacDowell's Previous Comments About Embracing Her Age
Andie's stunning Cannes appearance comes just a few months after her interview with journalist Katie Couric, where Andie said she "can't keep up the charade" of trying to look young! Speaking about her decision to stop coloring her hair, she said: "It makes me laugh when someone says it makes me look older. You know I'm [turning] 65, what do you think, I look 75 just because I let my hair go? But I don't care, I want to be old. I'm tired of trying to be young. I don't want to be young. I've been young. And to be an older person trying to be young, what an effort. That's a lot of effort. I just can't keep up the charade... I can't!"
And it’s almost one year since Andie's candid Sunday Times interview about embracing her age – and the gray hair that comes with it! When talking about her romantic life, she told the pub at the time that she wants men to appreciate her for who she is now – gray hair and all – saying: "It’s better. I might have looked younger and more acceptable to someone before, but I want to be appreciated for where I am, for my age." She then confessed: "And the response from men has been, 'You look beautiful.' I think my eyes look greener and it has made them pop in a way they didn’t before."
