Andie MacDowell Steps Out In Public For The First Time Since Her 65th Birthday—She Looks Incredible!

Andie MacDowell is one of our favorite celebs who promotes graceful aging, and the timelessly stunning star has quite the busy—and stylish—week! Before she took everyone’s breath away with sleek get-ups on the Cannes red carpet, the Four Weddings and a Funeral alum also showed off her radiant, makeup free skin during a Los Angeles outing. This marked her first public appearance since her 65th birthday last month.
On May 22nd, the Groundhog Day actress was spotted on a walk in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Silver Lake, as The Daily Mail reports, and she looked effortlessly chic. MacDowell flaunted her glowing complexion and tied her signature curly gray hair in a classic updo.
The rom-com icon donned a cozy white sweater and polka-dot lounge pants with open-toed sandals on her stroll. She added a beige purse to accessorize.
MacDowell also recently sat down with People Magazine and opened up about self-love and embracing her beauty at every age. “There is this time period between 40 and 60 that I think women in the business can struggle because they don’t know what to do.”
She added, “They’ve been seen as one way, but they’re not really seen as what I am now.” She continued, “I was struggling and I’m much more comfortable with where I am right now. I love being an older woman. I really enjoy it. And it doesn’t feel less sexy.”
This week, MacDowell also proved that age is just a number when she wowed fans on the Cannes red carpet in several sultry, exquisite designer pieces. Some of our faves include a black, sleeveless organza gown with crystal beading from Alberta Ferretti and a silky, long-sleeved, brown maxi dress by Saint Laurent.
The mom of three also told People Magazine in her latest interview that beauty standards for women in Hollywood are much stricter and harsher than those for men, especially when thinking of aging and how men are labelled ‘silver foxes’ and often seen as desirable when they get older.
“Men are seen as really sexy when they start to get wrinkles,” MacDowell said to the outlet. “I like all the terms we use for older men. I want to hold onto those terms. I want to be debonair. Why not? What a beautiful term.”
She went on, “We’ve been brainwashed, and it’s a psychological thing that we’ve bought into because we’ve been fed it for so long,” she says, regarding women her age. “We don’t allow ourselves to feel good about ourselves and we even perceive [older men] as sexy, because we’ve been taught this.”
