What Do We Know About 'Maleficent 3'?

The mom-of-six starred in Maleficent, a spin-off about the villain in Disney's 1959 Sleeping Beauty movie, back in 2014, with Elle Fanning playing the role of Aurora. The sequel Maleficent: Mistress of Evil was released in 2019, with Fanning also reprising her role as Aurora, aka Sleeping Beauty.

Although the magazine did seem to confirm that Jolie will be returning for a third instalment of the movie, not many other details are known, including which other actors could be joining her. Fanning's character, Aurora, gets married to Prince Phillip (played by Harris Dickinson) in the second film, and Maleficent vows to return for the christening of their future baby, which makes fans think that could be part of the storyline for the third movie.

Also in the second movie, Maleficent transforms Queen Ingrith (played by Michelle Pfeiffer) into a goat to punish her for her crimes, so we're not sure if she will return for the third movie – but we hope so!

Angelina Jolie Says She Wants To Move Away From Acting

Despite currently working on a Maria Callas biopic and seemingly confirming that she will return for a third Maleficent movie, the Eternals star did actually tell the mag that she wanted to leave Hollywood for good as it's "not a healthy place."

Jolie confessed that she doesn't have much of a social life anymore, and told the mag that she wants to move to Cambodia – where she adopted son Maddox, now 22, from – once the ongoing legal battles with ex-husband Brad Pitt are over for good. "Of all the places in the world, Hollywood is not a healthy place," she told the pub, adding, "It's part of what happened after my divorce. I lost the ability to live and travel as freely. I will move when I can."
