All eyes were on Anna Kendrick, 36, in a strapless, black corset-top Dolce & Gabbana dress at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures opening gala. We’re still not over this glamorous gown— from its sultry, sheer, push-up bodice to its bouffant, mesh skirt!
The Pitch Perfect star grabbed a black satin purse to complete her monochromatic look and tied her brown hair into a classic updo with her bangs swept to the side. Her timeless hairstyle helped show off her toned upper body and décolletage. She also rocked shiny Kwiat jewelry— matching the embellishments on her chic bag.

Kendrick shared photos of her all-black ensemble to her highly followed Instagram account, which fans have been revisiting in the past month looking for signs of Bill Hader (People Magazine reported that she and the Saturday Night Live star, 43, have been quietly dating for a year). Kendrick captioned her post, “2021 way too fancy edition” with a waving hand emoji while looking back on one of her best style moments of last year.
Kendrick, of course, has kept busy since then and just starred in a hilarious Super Bowl ad for Rocket Mortgage in which she utilized the nostalgia of Barbie Dream House commercials while trying to explain the difficulties of buying a house in a tight market to children. She also currently stars on HBO’s Love Life, a rom-com series.
As always, we’re looking forward to her 2022 red carpet looks to see what she has in store, but this look is hard to beat!
