Blake Lively isn’t the only A-lister to be called out for an awful interview from the past, as the same thing has just happened to Anne Hathaway!

A 2012 interview between Kjersti Flaa (the same interviewer in that viral Blake Lively clip, FYI) and the Oscar-winning actress has just resurfaced, and it doesn’t show the Princess Diaries 3 actress in the best light. However, Hathaway seemed to own it and actually reached out to Flaa and personally apologized. Wow!

Awkward Anne Hathaway Interview From 2012 Resurfaces

Flaa uploaded a video to her YouTube channel on October 6th, with the title: “This might be my worst interview idea ever.” The interview, which Flaa described as “cringe” and “awful,” among other things, was with Hathaway, Hugh Jackman, and Amanda Seyfried while promoting Les Misérables, with the Idea of You star coming across as rude and dismissive.

So what made the interview so bad? We know that Lively’s 2016 interview went downhill after Flaa complimented her on her baby bump, as she was pregnant with her first child at the time of the interview. In Hathaway’s case, it was because Flaa asked the Les Mis cast to sing some of the answers to her questions, in the spirit of the musical they were promoting.

The ageless actress evidently didn’t want to do it, and said very bluntly: “Well I won’t be doing that.” She then proceeded to give rude, blunt, one-word answers, and the awkwardness was impossible to ignore. Check it out below, if you dare.

Anne Hathaway Apologizes For 2012 Les Misérables Interview

A few days after the resurfaced interview went viral, Flaa revealed that she had received an apology from the Locked Down actress, although she didn’t want to share what exactly was said.

“Yesterday, I did receive an email. It was from Anne Hathaway’s publicist, and he forwarded a message to me from Anne Hathaway,” Flaa said in a new YouTube video, below. “I was pretty shocked. I had not expected her to reach out to me at all… She did something pretty amazing,” she added.

Flaa confirmed that she “wouldn’t share exactly what was in the email,” but said that the Eileen actress apologized for her behavior, and explained “what she was going through” at the time of the interview. “She apologized for being… giving me an awful interview basically,” Flaa said, adding: “It was so touching to me. Just talking about it makes me almost teary eyed, ’cause I was just so grateful that she did that. It was a very personal note.”

The Bulgari ambassador reportedly also asked Flaa to interview her whenever her next movie comes out, to which Flaa said: “I’m really looking forward to that. Thank you so much for doing that.” And it seems the internet was very shocked and pleased with the Devil Wears Prada alum’s actions too!

Fans Praise Anne Hathaway For Apologizing

“Anne taking accountability demonstrates good character. This shows humility and self-awareness,” commented one fan in the YouTube comments. “So happy to hear she did the right thing and reached out! Blake Lively needs to take notes,” wrote a second, as a third said: “That’s really kind of her for apologizing after all these years. Very classy.”

“It’s amazing how quickly a matter of perception of someone can resolve with a sincere apology and acknowledgment of a mistake. Thank you for sharing this, she is a very talented actress and it’s great to see her acknowledging this,” gushed a fourth fan.

"It's a good reminder not to judge each other too harshly. So glad Anne made amends and that you're recognizing that the apology is too personal to broadcast. This is a really lovely resolution️," thought a fifth, which a sixth echoed, writing: "Thank you for honoring her and keeping the contents of the email private."

"That was really lovely of Anne. I'm glad that she reached out to you. Anyone can have a bad day or make a mistake. I have so much respect for those who can simply apologize," wrote another fan.

"Honestly… She didn't really owe you an apology. But it definitely reinforces my positive opinion about her," someone else said, as another YouTube user added: "That is very classy and humble of her to reach out and apologize. Thanks for sharing that info. "
