Anne Hathaway looked completely unrecognizable when she was spotted in New Jersey on Tuesday, January 25th on the set of her latest movie, Eileen. The 39-year-old Oscar-winner swapped her trademark shiny brunette locks for a short blonde wig for her role in the crime drama based on the 2015 Booker-Prize-shortlisted novel of the same name by Ottessa Moshfegh, and we have to admit, we had to do a double take when we saw her!
In the pictures, the Devil Wears Prada actress (she will always be Andy Sachs to us!) wore a cream-colored cable knit cardigan, a blue turtleneck sweater, black pants, and black boots. It’s a far cry from the ultra-glamorous red carpet attire we are used to seeing Hathaway wear, put it that way!

In the screen adaptation of Moshfegh’s novel, which is set in the 1960s, the Les Miserables actress will be playing the role of Eileen Dunlop, who according to Good Reads, is a young woman who works in a boys’ prison, and “fills her nights and weekends with shoplifting, stalking a buff prison guard named Randy, and cleaning up her alcoholic father’s messes.” Interesting!
According to the Twitter page of Jonathan Busch, the Mayor of the Borough of Metuchen in New Jersey where Eileen is being filmed, “The movie centres around a young woman who works in a boys’ prison outside of Boston & is somehow pulled into a bizarre crime.” It sounds very exciting, and we can’t wait for it to be released! There is currently no word on when the movie will be out, but from the pictures and synopsis, we are confident that it will be worth the wait!
