If you want to spotlight superfoods that improve skin’s elasticity, moisture, youth, and glow this autumn, you’ve come to the right place. Neuroscientist and well-known TikTok influencer Dr. Robert Love uses his knowledge to prevent Alzheimer’s through a combination of scientific research and practical nutritional advice.

In a recent TikTok video, Dr. Love explored the benefits of five particular collagen-enhancing foods, detailing how their abundant antioxidants can give you radiant skin and support brain health as you age. He deemed his list to be secrets to the “fountain of youth,” found in your own kitchen.

5 Doctor-Approved Anti-Aging Superfoods That Promote Collagen Production & Skin Elasticity1. Blueberries

Love regards blueberries as an excellent option for those seeking to maintain a hydrated and glowing complexion well beyond the summer season. He notes that they are not only “delicious,” but also “great for your brain and rich in antioxidants.” These fruits can “help protect your skin from stress and damage and help prevent premature aging.”

Blueberries, he goes on, are also great for the memory. “Make sure you get organic blueberries or wild blueberries because conventionally grown blueberries can have pesticides, and those can be damaging to your brain and to your skin,” he adds.

2. Avocados

The second food Love shares is avocados, and he notes that they are "rich in healthy fats, vitamin E, and nutrients, which can help nourish your skin, increase elasticity and help prevent premature aging."

3. Sweet Potatoes

Sweet potatoes are "loaded with beta carotene," Love says, which is "really good for protecting your skin from the sun, and that can help protect your skin from being damaged by sun and looking too old."

4. Citrus Foods

For the fourth addition on the list, Love suggests a "category of food," citrus fruits, that are high in vitamin C. He specifically referred to "lemons, limes and grapefruit." The vitamin C in citrus juice "helps increase collagen production, and that can help reduce wrinkles," he explains.

5. Fatty Fish

Love's last listed food is "fatty fish" such as sardines, mackerel, anchovies and salmon. He advises always making sure that "you get wild caught salmon, because farm-based salmon can have lice in it." Another pointer he shares in the clip is to buy "Atlantic macro, not king macro." These fish, he shares, are "high in Omega-3 fatty acids and help nourish the skin and help reduce wrinkles." They are also, in his opinion, "amazing for your brain."

The Bottom Line

"Your brain, outside of water, is made primarily of fat and the fat in fish oil, the DHA, the Omega 3 fatty acids, these help nourish the brain and give the brain the raw materials to repair itself and make new brain cells," he concludes. The more you know!
