Sweet Potatoes
Sweet potatoes are rich in beta-carotene, which the body converts to vitamin A. "Sweet potatoes are a great addition to a diet for anyone looking to keep their skin healthy," Kessel Dermatology says. "It can act as a natural sunblock to help keep your skin from being damaged."
Berries
Berries like blueberries, raspberries and blackberries are great for skin as they contain powerful antioxidants, a substance that prevents free radicals from causing damage to the body. According to dermatologist Hendrik Uyttendaele, “Antioxidants such as those found in berries may reduce ROS in our skin and may reduce collagen breakdown in aging skin.”
Flaxseeds
“Flaxseed and borage are wonderful oils to add to your diet," says aesthetician Sandy Tonyes. "They contain high amounts of omega-3s and omega-6s and help reduce redness in the skin and keep it smooth and supple." Walnuts and fatty fish like salmon are also high in omega-3s and great for even skin tone.
Kale
According to dermatologist David Bank, kale is loaded with vitamins A, C and K, as well as antioxidants. “The vitamin K in kale helps to reduce the dark circles under your eyes and ‘tightens’ your skin, thereby reducing fine lines and wrinkles.”
So, the rule of thumb for eating healthy foods to improve skin tone is to keep a colorful plate! You can bet that we'll be eating these foods more in 2018 to get flawless skin!
