Apple TV Cancels High Desert After One Season
It's always sad to see one of your favorite shows bite the dust, but it's especially disheartening when that happens after just one season. That's exactly what happened to fans of Apple TV Plus's High Desert. The streaming service officially pulled the plug on this Patricia Arquette-starring dramedy on July 1, much to the dismay of many. Deadline was the first to break the news, following an Instagram post from Arquette herself.
This cancelation comes not even two months after the show's premiere, which took place on May 17. Although the series, which following garnered many of loyal fans, it only lived to see eleven episodes, with the finale airing on June 21. It's safe to say that viewers are upset, and they're making it known on social media.
Fans React to High Desert Cancelation
In the comments of Arquette's Instagram post addressing the cancelation, friends and fans alike flocked to share their disappointment with Apple TV.
"This is devastating! Who's the pinhead that made that decision!?" one demanded. "It's an awesome show: excellent writing, excellent direction, excellent everything else; and of course, the acting was phenomenal. A hugely talented production."
Some have even gone as far as to turn away from Apple TV for good. "They canceled your show & I canceled my Apple TV+ subscription," one fan wrote. "I got your back, girl."
Of course, some share the same hope that we always have when a show we loved is prematurely cancelled: "Maybe another network will pick it up."
Unfortunately, Arquette confirmed that this isn't an option. "They don't sell content," she replied to one hopeful fan. Burst our dreams, why don't you!
Although it's certainly said to see High Desert go, there are still good series to enjoy. Why not take a look at some of the titles that hit Amazon Prime this year?
