Show a tech expert your iPhone apps and they’ll be able to identify all of the worst offenders that are wreaking havoc on your privacy, storage space, and battery. Some apps aren’t just worse than other apps when it comes to these areas — they are SO MUCH worse. And deleting them, or at least changing their settings so that they can cause the least amount of damage possible, can help your phone work more efficiently.

These are the apps you should delete from your iPhone for faster performance, more storage space, and privacy.

Facebook

Facebook is usually on the top of every list when it comes to apps that can and will take up storage space, slow down your device, and invade your privacy. It’s a well-known fact that Facebook has and continues to sell its users data to third-party advertisers. The Facebook app also slows your battery down because it is resource-intensive thanks to the many videos and post updates it constantly provides. Getting rid of the Facebook app keeps your data better protected, boosts your battery so that it stays charged for longer, and can even speed up your phone.

Weather Apps

Why do so many weather apps even exist when the one that comes with your iPhone is perfectly adequate? Sure, you may be searching for more bells and whistles — and you’ll find them with other weather apps. But you’re also going to have to open yourself up to giving out your locations and other data you may not feel comfortable giving up. Sticking to just one weather app is the safer way to go.

Navigation Apps

Google Maps, Apple Maps, Waze — who can just choose one, right? One app may provide a completely different set of directions then another, or may be better at detecting traffic or red light cameras. We get why having more than one navigation app is convenient in your day-to-day life, but it’s not the best move for your phone. These apps are notorious battery drainers and data snatchers, not to mention you can say “bye” to your privacy — for obvious reasons these app always know your location.

LinkedIn

LinkedIn is great. No one is going to deny that the app is an absolute gem when it comes to networking and putting feelers out for employment opportunities. But that isn’t the entire story with this app — it is also collecting so much private information about you, including your contact details, every place you’ve ever been employed, your salary, personal contacts, and more. Do the benefits of this app outweigh this potential negative sides? It’s possible they do — but it’s also important to remember how much data LinkedIn is collecting about you.
