Ariana Grande has been forced to step in and urge her fans to stop “sending hateful messages” to various people in her life following the release of her album, Eternal Sunshine.

The 30-year-old “Thank U, Next” singer has come under fire following the release of the album, as fans believe that some of the songs are in reference to her marriage with ex-husband Dalton Gomez, and her new controversial relationship with Wicked co-star Ethan Slater. It is reportedly named after the 2004 movie of the same name, starring Kate Winslet and Jim Carrey, and seemingly addresses the breakdown of a relationship similar to the film.

Ariana Grande Asks Fans To Stop 'Sending Hateful Messages'

The "Yes, And?" singer took to her Instagram Story on Saturday, March 9th – just one day before turning up to the Oscars in a dramatic Glinda-inspired pink Giambattista Valli Haute Couture gown – to send the message to her 380M followers.

"I just wanted to say anyone that is sending hateful messages to the people in my life based on your interpretation of this album is not supporting me and is absolutely doing the polar opposite of what I would ever encourage (and is also entirely misinterpreting the intention behind the music,)" Grande's message began.

"I ask that you please do not. It is not how to support me. It is the opposite," she continued. "Although this album captures a lot of painful moments, it also is woven together with a through line of deep, sincere love."

"If you cannot hear that, please listen more closely," she added. She concluded her message with a simple, "thank you."

Previous Criticism For Ariana Grande

The Victorious alum has faced a lot of criticism in recent months, with many people branding her a "homewrecker" due to the fact that the SpongeBob Musical: Live on Stage! star was married to his high school sweetheart Lilly Jay, with whom he shares a young son, before meeting her and embarking on their controversial relationship.

Grande has also had to ask fans to stop commenting on her appearance, which many fans claimed they were worried about as they thought she looked "too thin," "sick," and "frail," among other things.
